Mike, in your postings since Saturday night you have been far too personal, suggestive and often offensive towards The Avon Lady.

i take offense to that Abraham... who the hell gave you the license of morality to make such a broad judgement call on what you personally consider to be suggestive, offensive, or otherwise...

you can lock the thread if you wish, but you go too far when you assume the role of moral authority at my expense...

A. Lady got just what she asked for... she was promoting hatred against a whole group of people on this forum... she was linking to a site that promotes hatred... and then trying to present this crap as opinion...

it's hate mongering plain and simple... yet she is allowed to continue this, nothing said... then you have the blatant audacity to condone this by telling me about my comments...

read the damn thread or are you too stupid to realize what is going on right in front of you...

Here's you chance to retract, jackass.
Your hypocrisy abounds.

If I can be equated to Rudolph Hess, believe me your being a jackass is a gross understatement.

where were you then... why didn't you comment on these...

You know nahthink. You zee nahthink!

now go ahead, pay a visit there... it's pure hate mongering... plain and simple... now is that what your condoning here Abraham...

now i don't know who the hell you think you are buddy, but you'd better get a grip young man... don't pretend to play god around me just because you've got a moderators authority over here...

her agenda of hate is obvious... your stupidity is equally so to allow stuff like this to go unchecked here...

i'll be proud to stand up to any sort of subtle hate spreading anywhere i see it... regardless of the consequences.

Yep. Kind of one sided moderating.
Kind of disgusting in itself.

Abraham, Mike,

I must agree with Mike here, I think Abraham's reaction was a bit biased and off the scale, I think, and I was surprised when seeing that lock, too. And since both Mike and Abraham are moderators (and me in my little tank niche as well :) ) I want to remind both of you of what is written in the moderator's guidelines:

Subsim forum moderators should use a light touch. We prefer our mods to let things run without excessive editing, warning, and thread moving. Let people have their say. The only topics that are forbidden are software piracy, severe and repeated hate speech, and personal attacks. No intense name-calling allowed (idiot! moron!) etc. If a poster seems to be crossing the line, it may be a good idea to see if the topic dies out (it does not get follow up posts and sinks) for a day first. If the violation gets a lot of follow-ups and is turning into a major problem, then step in.

Always try to give a nice warning first.
Censor (by using the edit) any bad content, leave your inititials and an explanation.
If a thread is really out of control, make the last post and explain you are locking it (this only happens once in a while).
Try not to delete posts.
For members who are out of control, refer them to Neal Stevens in a Private Message.

Mike gave the change in the currency that was chosen not by him.
And the FAQ also says:

Subsim forums allow a wide range of discussion freedom but there are limits. Moderators volunteer to see that the forums do not descend into chaos and anarchy and that the rules are adhered to. Members should not publicly attack a Moderator or intentionally undermine a Moderator's actions. It is okay for a member to publicly ask a Moderator why an admonishment was issued; it is okay for a member to publicly disagree with a Moderator. It is not okay for a member to harass, bait, or slander a Moderator. If a member wishes to challenge a Moderator action that involves the member, this challenge must be raised in private via PM or email, not in public.

I am aware that Mike does not moderate THIS forum, but nevertheless both of you are moderators. Please settle the issue between the two of you in private messages, and not on the board.

Im not trying to accuse or point a finger here but i think he is using his mod power simply because he disagree's with some thing, even ive been on the recieving end.

Fair enough i can justify some calls he has made but not all of them.

I have just had a rant about unfair moderating on the 5000 topic.I see that the accused has not yet come forward with his defence either here or on that topic .You cannot ask the public to play by the rules if the moderator has no transparency and answers to no one. From his profile I see that he is a lawyer; you would expect better from someone who is meant to protect and project justice professionally. It is about time there were some rules both for the posters and the moderators. Then we would all be aware of the boundaries.Another site I post on has rules and if you break them the post is removed. If you continue to break them you are barred.
If you get rid of the childish avatar promotion system spamming will be dead in the water.Over to you!

I didn't know that you were being edited. If this is true, then I owe you an apology.

Oh, yes. Equal censure as well. Mike was well within the boundaries of sensibility.

I have a certain responsability for what is said on this forum. I carefully read the whole thread and decided to close it with a comment. I stand by what I have said, that your postings have been far too personal, suggestive and often offensive towards The Avon Lady.

The quotes you give don't even come close to the quotes that made me shut the thread.

Furthermore, I'm sorry that you don't adhere to the Forum rules and start a public discussion about moderation on the forum.Subsim forums allow a wide range of discussion freedom but there are limits. Moderators volunteer to see that the forums do not descend into chaos and anarchy and that the rules are adhered to. Those are Neal's rules.
Live by them!
