Can't update from v1.3 to v1.4 or 1.4b...

Hi guys, I'm running v1.3 and want to update to v1.4. I'm using the DVD version of the game and I have downloaded the emea version patches. When I try to launch the file I get a warning saying that a version of some file or other, sometimes a .wav or.dll, cannot be determined and the installation is aborted.

Any help appreciated.

You need to install the patch over a fresh, unmodded version. If you use JSGME you could also try and disable all mods, then try the patch again.

Can you please tell me the sequence for uninstalling SHIII? For example, when do I use the StarForce Removal Tool? Is that before or after uninstalling?

You shouldn't have to remove Starforce. In fact, the SH3 uninstaller gives you an option to repair, just do a repair and it should leave you with a patchable install without all the bother of a complete uninstall/reinstall.

- Make sure you copy your SH3 career folder that's in My Docs. Copy it to a safe place and delete the original.

- Then uninstall. When prompted by the wizard "Do you want to save career data?" click 'No.'

- After uninstalling, delete all the residual SH3 folders (except, of course, for the career folder you're saving)

- Install/patch

- copy the career folder back to My Docs.

Somebody correct me if I'm leaving anything important out.
