I was watching the History Channel's special "Sink the Bismarck!" program (for the umpteenth time - it's actually pretty decent) the other day, and I was amused to discover an interesting oddity I had not noticed before. During one of the scenes at the dock before the Bismarck was about to set sail on Exercise Rhine, they were playing some music underneath the narration, and it was Das U-Boot Lied (Die Stunde hat geschlagen...)
I thought that was an interesting choice of music for a show about a big battleship. And they must have known what they were doing, because they had edited it down to the only small part of the song that doesn't actually talk about U-boat-related stuff. At least they got the country and the time period right
