Hi,
I've been using the 3.15 rule with two points to get speed and AoB. I'm always stationary when making these marks.
Once I load all details into the TDC and click on the tick, can I make course and speed changes while still keeping an accurate solution?
I guess what I'm asking is that providing target stays on same course and heading, can I manoeuvre the uboat the TDC solution compensate?
Thanks
Clacks
After you manually enter the solution for the ship ie.....
AOB:90 P Range: 850mtrs Speed:6knts
then you hit the manual button again, which should bring it back to self update, then yes the TDC will compensate for everything. It is after all a computer and that was its purpose in real life. Your TDC will update depending on your scopes alignment, as long as your looking at the ship that the solution is for the solution will be correct. Needless to say if you look at another ship the solution will be wrong.....

Great, thanks for that.
So if I'm attacking a convoy with all ships on same heading and speed, what's the easiest way to find a solution for other ships?

Well you see thats one of the glorys of Convoys.
Usually ones I run into I have been given a radio message stating the Speed and relative Course.
You can set up at 90 and set the same speed for all ships. I usually don't do calculations to the T when attacking convoys. My Primary Ship is the Largest one I can find with the easiest access. Then I make another short calculation for a ship close to it, that way the AOB and Range shouldn't be to far off.
I fire the Primary Salvo first, then Secondary Salvo after I line the scope up. Before I fire my first salvo though I will double check the second. Make sure the running depth is set right for each target ie A C2 daft is shallower than a C3, you can preset this as well.
When your setting up your solutions say salvo one is a C3 with a daft of 9.0 I usually set at 6.5-7.0 in good weather. Secondary Target is a C2 with a Daft of 6.9, 3.0-4.9 in good weather. After you set those up select salvo one line up fire, select salvo two line up fire.
As well as depth make sure your running speed ie Slow Medium Fast, is set as well a detenator ie Impact or Magnetic. These should be preset along with the depth.
I would set the salvo tubes to be the same torp. not wise to shoot a ele and a steam at the same target one gets there slower.... Have you salvos consist of the SAME torpedo type. I usually don't load ele into the main tubes before port I put around 3-4 in the reserves to load if I need them.
I'm no expert but thats how I do thing. I'm sure other guys can give better instructions. Good Luck!

Thanks for the help!

Any chance you did not stumble across Wazoo's outstanding Plotting & Targeting Tutorial (http://www.paulwasserman.net/SHIII/)?
That gave me a deeper inside in TDC. I use the notepad only for target range since. But its still an enigma how ppl can aquire target course and speed only with hydrophones (get a life! ;-))
Concering convoys: If you do not change course of your U-Boat, once you have a target solution its the same for all ships (as long as they dont start evasive maneuvers or zigg-zaggin of course).
Just turn the scope and fire at another target - even the range need not be adjusted. As mentionend above: dont forget to check running torpedo depht!
Happy hunting!
