Pretty decent game. Very nice graphics, excellent open-ended play. Pretty murderous on the system though. Hopefully that will work out.

More to the point though, they just started releasing pay mods. The first one so far is one for horse armor. It's about $2 from their little pay site. Personally, it makes me ill. I refuse to pay for something like this. Whoever came up with this idea needs a good, swift beating. This is the worst idea I've ever seen. It's like creating an expansion pack in tiny pieces and charging for each piece.

Not to mention the fact that they have basically crippled the modding community by not releasing any tools to export models, so basically they are screwed. They wouldn't want the community competing with their own little mods, now would they? Grrr! :hulk:

I thought that whole fiasco with SH3 and X1 was bad, but this is a hundred times worse and it's official. The entire thing is wrong in so many ways.

I play Oblivion yep i love this game. I started up a post in the Games thread here in subsim, but it seems hardly anyone visit that place.

There are plenty of Elderscrolls Oblivion sites, its pretty suspect that they're selling mods. Especially when theres heaps of other sites where the mods are free.

Heres a mod site for Oblivion and they're all FREE! :yep:

The retail version of Oblivion doesn't come with the Construction Set Editor, its because Microsoft stopped the sale of the set being distributed on the Oblivion retail, alot of theories on forums about why MS did this is one, they wanted the game to last by putting there own Mods out instead of players mods.
Anyway if you have the collectors edition you have the construction set if you dont you can DL the Editor here http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads/updates_utilities.htm

Since we are on this topic, I asked a question related to this and never got a good answer. It concerns all those extra campaigns for IL-2 FB that are for sale, eg Fall Blau etc. Those were just made with the built in IL-2 mission creator/editor yes? If so is it not a bit cheeky to sell them. I know a lot of work went into them but isn't it like Bill making uber campaigns for Dangerous Waters and then selling them?

Still, the game itself is very satisifying. For example, in just about every town in there is a beggar whining about "My children are starving..." and so on. Most of the time I feel sorry for them, but then sometimes when I'm in a crappy mood their little one liners grate on my nerves.

In particular, last night I was feeling particularly sadistic. I just came into town and right on cue, way out of my view I hear "A coin, for an old man?" That really ticked me off, don't know why, bad day I guess. I played along, and gave him his 5 septims. Later, after I had finished my errands in town, night had fallen and I spotted the same beggar lingering near the gate. Sure enough, soon as I got close he spews the same line at me. At the point, I got really irritated. I took a quick glance around to see if any guards were in eyeshot. I backed into the shadows, slipped into stealth mode, pulled out my bow, knocked an arrow. I zoomed in a bit to make sure I didn't miss. I let that baby fly and she flew straight into his head and dropped him with one shot.

I lingered in the shadows for a few minutes, before I emerged from stealth mode. All clear. A guard comes mosying by. Sees the body "Oh g-gosh, are you alright?" I just stand there whistling. After the guard leaves, I promptly take back my 5 septims AND his shirt and pants and make my way out of town, my taste for murder and mayhem satisfied. :o

Now THAT, is a good game!

Miniature mods are not worth it, especially if they can be easily reproduced.

The IL-2 Campaigns are different, those have more work put into than a simple horse-saddle, yet, I don't think they're worth it either, because IL-2 campaigns suck.

I would pay for a long OFP campaign, greatly improved Falcon campaigns or BoB:Wings of Victory, but IL-2? There's nothing in an IL-2 campaign that I couldn't have created myself, given enough time and interest, but it's not worth the hassle nor the money.

If you can't compete for content against modders, you simply don't, you quit, give up, surrender. Let them mod all they want, modded games have an increased life-span and depending on the conditions may attract different audiences. Someone may not like the stock game but will buy it to play Uber-Mod-Totally-Different 2.0.

Or does anyone believe SH3 can be played vanilla, without any mods at all?
