My sonarman sometimes don't report sound contact that i can hear from hydrophone when i manually check for sound contacts.
Is this a problem or its a matter of experience.
My sonarman have the appropriate specialty.
Thanks

Yeah I have that too sometimes.

Did you gave him the "scan for contacts" order?

This isn't isolated everyone has that problem, all the time. You sonar man doesn't "hear" contacts untill they are close, so its always best to go to periscope depth and man the sonar station yourself and scan for contacts.

I use the follow contacts if its a single ship during bad weather and follow nearest krieg ship when I'm in a convoy.

Sonar man is pratically useless :nope:

Hapened to me today and since i was in busy surounding(vicinity of Dover) i just relayed on him...however in 1 moment i realised that i can hear ship over my head(he was fast so he didnt detected me) then i realised that my sonarman is sleepy! So i replaced him with fresh crewmember and in that instance he reported Warship,blah,balh..moving fast.moving away....So i think that u need to keep eye on sonarman endurance(he become usles far before hi got red mark),especialy if he is not qualified as S yet!

I check the endurance of the sonarman often and i alwayw change him when he get tiried.
One more thing when i press the "tick" button to mark the sound contact he doesn't report anything
and i can't shoot the bastard :rotfl:

Yeah same case with me. maybe the AI is modded to only report at a certain max range only. Best advise, when in dought, kick him out of the chair and man it yourself. :yep:

Yes, I wish there were a way to demote crewmen.... :damn: :damn:

There have been times that I was being DC by a destroyer and at the critical moment, I need a bearing, range and whether he is closing, I hit the icon, and nothing..... :o :damn:

I think it may be that the processor is overloaded and when I go to the soundroom, and click on him, he answers then....I know something is wrong when I look at the radio operator, he is frozen stiff over the radar wheel. Once he was standing with his arms outstreached

I then went to the crew screen and took them out then returned them and the problem went away, but all these things are time consuming in the heat of battle :yep:

Oh, but there is a way to have him, should we say, removed, whilst at sea. You just surface in near the enemy and let him know you're there, put the sonarman on watch and send down the rest of the watch crew. :D
Okay, so it will keep your damage control crew busy but it is for a good cause.
