View Full Version : Your president

Your a president, king, queen, prime minister, dictator ect ect of a little country Dubai.
Your a rich country, who has ambitions to become a world leader in certain things.
What things would you like to become world leader in ?
Would you like a massive millatery that could one day combat the might of the USN and russian navy's
Or would you be like japan and build a strong and sucsessful economy?
Or even invade other countries to get land like hitler
So what would you do if you were given this control?

Surrender the power and start a democratic process.

Dubai is democratic though its part of the UAE.
Economy...
If I build a big military, someone in the western world will send over a squadron of B-52s and flatten it...so that's pointless.
'sides, there's not a great deal in this world that money cannot buy these days
I will implement Sharia law
Joking. But I am afraid, if I am in Arabian land, I must have made my land a Purely Sharia land.
But as a leader of a small nation. The first think to do is to develop the nation to make it one of the best economies of the world.
To have good relation with each and every nation in the world including the neighbours.
Surely will have a strong military that is capable to defend my nation against any possible attack by any nation. Rather than giving importance to quantity, quality will be the main priority.

Oh come on... this question is totally naive and simplistic. Its just not that simple. :nope: Everyone knows that everything is intertwined. Its not a coincidence that the world's strongest military is also the world's richest economy. The two go together, and states that have tried to achieve military might without the economic power to back it up can succeed for only a small amount of time before collapse.
Any even then... "world's leading miltary" is a blurring statement in itself. Miltary conflict is so dependent on the will and conviction of the people involved, with a strong willed people willing to endure greater sacrafices equal to an advanced military unwilling to endure human losses. And heck, some of the world's leading economies are also world leaders in debt. Sort of a dicotomous reality. Not to mention that a country that leads the world in wealth and "standards of living" can, at the same time display large poverty rates, while a less rich country can possess less unemployment rates...
... so the question is moot, all competant leaders should realize this.
Economy...
Research a really strong EMP weapon, and only then build a massive military. I believe that a EMP weapon is needed to have a standing chance against the US and other strong and highly developed countries. A weapon to knock out satellites would also be very useful.
When I have all that I would go Hitler style and conquer land. In the end, Dubaian culture would rule the world.

Well yes but then look at japan it is a power house has the 2nd strongest currecy in the world and also one of the most stable and largest economys in the world, and has a very large millatery infact i think some one said not so long ago the 4th largest navy in the world.

First I thought the thread subject was about Bush again, but it seems to be : "(Suppose) you're president of Dubai(; what would your policy be?)"
Of course impossible to answer without knowing which budget is available, what the key economic indicators say and what the population expects.
So, in my opinion, a superficial question that can only draw superficial answers.
Well, let's try:
I would get at least an SSBN, a B-2's and a CVN Battle group. I saw on Discovery Channel yesterday that are the three most powerful weapon systems ever.
The world would be in awe for Dubai...

No dummy, did you ever see a submarine crash in a garden? The Nuclear Carrier battlegroup of course!
That is, if your garden is big enough...

I agree with Oberon. If you nose-dive the carrier, the whole battlegroup could make it in your garden...

Declare war on the US, then surrender. Let the US rebuild my country & pour dollars into it. Make sure I have no natural resources for them to steal. Maybe apply for statehood afterwards.
