I started a new campaign last night in a type II. In my first mission I sail into the English Channel on full time compression travelling along the surface. The seas are on the rough side and not the best conditions. Suddenly without any warning i get a message in the dialogue box at the botom of the screen saying ship spotted. When I go to the 3d view I see a British destroyer steaming right for me only like 10m away and about to cut me in half. Then when I un-pause the game I die a horrible death as my little Type II is cut in half by the destroyer.

Now I thought that when in time compression there was meant to be a like popup box appear in the middle of the screen while at the same time the game going into pause. And I thought that in this box were meant to be a few options such as "continue orders", "crash dive", or "engage". Am I missing something here? It seems a little unfair that I have game in time compression and before I get any chance to react I am KIA. :(

Well mate running through the channel....even in 1939 is a bit risky. If that happened around Dover it's no wonder you were spotted. :nope: On high time compression. You get little to no warning. So your time to react is usually nill. With it being bad weather your watch did not spot the destoryer, until it was right on top of you.
If you are running SH3 commander, there are time compression settings you can adjust.

I'd go a bit slower through there next time.
