Yep. I saw one on my last patrol, travelling by itself. I let her go in peace (rather than in pieces LOL).

So you deliberately lost 10,000 renown points? :P

Which mod you use, where you were and when it happened ?

Edit: i've just understand that you meant you let her go and not R.I.P. her :-j

It was somewhat bittersweet, to come across such a ship all alone, but then just simply watch her sail by.

I only run Grey Wolves and SH3Cmdr. I saw her around Nov/Dec 1942, sailing east towards Ireland, IIRC.

Of the west coast of Ireland sailing west at about 14 knots. Actually quite spectacular really because the weather consisted of heavy rain, medium fog and clouds overcast. It was about after midnight too so the fact that my watch crew picked her up was quite amazing. Two ships passing in the night...

Good thing you did let her go.That would be one heck of a renown hit to take.

Just so people are aware when they do see one...

You will loose 10,000 renown points for sinking her not gain points according to the NHOS.cfg file in the Sea Folder.

CH75 just east of Gibraltar I average atleast 3 or four of them a patrol there. They are usually heading east.

That's wierd... there shouldn't be more than one at a time. There were only a few hospital ships to go around. :-?

Hmmm. :hmm:

My Grandfather on my mother's side fought all through North Africa, Sicily, Italy, and finally Southern France where he was sent home early due to serious injury by land mine.

He was at Kesserine pass when the Germans cleaned our clocks.

I'm lucky I got to know him.

There were certainly enough casualties to keep more than one hospital ship full.

Man; now I've got "When the Tigers Broke Free" stuck in my head :-?

I did some reading about N.Africa and Italy last summer - pretty grim, to say the least. At least most histories say that The Pass taught US infantry valuable lessons & saved lives later on.

First with NYGM Tonnage War stand alone fresh install. A couple weeks ago came across a large ship eastbound toward Ireland travelling at high speed. Visibility was crap so I took a chance and fired a spread of 4.
3 hits, the ship came to a stop so I surfaced and closed in reloading my forward tubes. At about 1500m I was able to make out a faded red cross on the funnel. We sat there for over an hour watching the ship slowly list more and more until she finally gave in. Call me a War Criminal I guess but up to that point I had only heard of them but never actually encountered one.

Second time using Rubini's Unified Campaign. TW + HT
Same general area, EB toward Ireland. Running surfaced we came across one and just let it go.

I'm using GW and SH3Commander, and have sunk two Hospital Ships on two separate patrols. I recieved 6,000 reknown points each time. Don't know why that is. :hmm:

Did you sink anything else during those patrols?

Yes, though I can't remember exactly what ships. Reknown awards are normal otherwise. The extreme reknown award only happened when I sank a Hospital ship. Weird huh? :hmm:

I can't open the Red Cross recognition manual in GW... is that normal?

In fact I reported this issue in the Errata thread

I don't know if it has been discussed but I discovered the Recognition manual don't open on these following countries:

Albanien
Belgien
Kolumbien
Tschechien
Danemark
Estland
Finnland
Ungarn
Irland
Lettland
Litauen
Mexico
Portugal
Slowakei

and

Red Cross.

Only the title on the recognition manual show, but I can't open.

I also find the italien's warship seems to not been named properly
(scharnhorst battlecruiser is instead named Italien BattleCruiser)

These may be minor changes, I was concerned about these issues because of my release of the new improved Recognition manual.

Thats strange. I thought we had that fixed. I will add it to my list of things to fix. Thanks for the find Jonz.
If someone can tell me why this is happening it will certainly accelerate the process of getting it fixed.

I think it something to do with the Roster files that have not beign entered or not entered properly formated.

@ Jonz,

Thanks! That is actually one of the primary areas we are focusing on for our update. Rubini has completed an audit of the entire GW Roster folder.

Very sorry about the inconvenience. Everyone can feel free to yell at me now.

(It was not Rubini's fault.)

The Recognition Manual only open's for the countries that have at least one military unit (ship). So, this is why Red Cross don't open (hospital ship only). But the GW's Roster folder have some little flaws on it. So all these countries that are not open now don't have any military unit on the roster folder. I already fix this problem and will be "on line" soon.

All the non military units on the game, for all countries, opens on the Handelsschiffe (merchants) section of the recognition manual. The Hospital ship is there.

There's must be a fix. In IuB I don't have this problem and I have almost have these countries with lone tawlers.

-Yes, like I said at least one military unit, Armed trawler for example. But, again, the recognition manual only opens on the "country's page" to military units. All others are on the Handelsschiffe (merchants) section.

Doh, alright that make sense....

So that's mean there's no military ship in the GW mod concerning these countries? I recall to see tawlers on these countries in the Museum, but if there's none - what's the point to have adding them :88)

It's only a matter to add them on the respective Roster folder. And these countries aren't a big deal on SH3 campaign files, so the player will never notice the absence of the Armed Trawler for them. By the way, the Roster folder is far from have a complete and realistic roll of all the historical units for all countries on SH3. But it's enough to play the game without notice any big problem on this issue. Anyway it's already fixed. ;)
