Good on 'em...can't have been easy but it's good to see that common sense prevailed.
Also good to see that we have a diplomatic service that makes up for Prince Philip.

The kargil war did happen. The article provides a lot of wrong information. First it says that the Bus service started after diplomacy. But the truth is that Indian Prime Minister went to Pakistan in the Bus to meet Prime Minister Nawas Sherif. The Pak Military was not comfortable with good relations with India. After this the Kargil incident happened. Pakistan occupied land in Kargil. When this was detected there was a war which resulted in Kargil being recaptured. There was diplomatic talk by President Clinton asking Pakistan to withdraw their troops. Before this has happened Indian Army and IAF kicked Pakistan Army from 95% of the land they had occupied. Without seeing any hope the remaining withdrew from the heights.

The article also says that India and Pakistan had fought 3 wars on Kashmir. It will be better to say that Pakistan had attacked India three times in the name of Jammu&Kashmir. This is regardless of the Jihad being waged against India. It is an undeclared war by Pakistan.
