Ok there I was sitting in the local pizzeria waiting for dinner when two girls come in. ‘Hay their kinda cute’ I think. I look like a bum! :damn: I didn’t shave, my hair is all shaggy and my shirt is dirty. They go to the counter and talk to the owner; I hear them say they are new to the area and they ask if they get any missionaries in this area. Oh no… Mormons! :o I should have guessed (I thought they were beauticians with the black coat and name tags!) They turn to head for the door when they ping me! They start asking me if I'm religious and stuff. I kinda play along figuring taking to two cute missionaries beats staring at the wall for the next ten minutes. “Do you know of anyone in this area who might be interested…” Oh-uh! Bad thing, they are searching for others. “Uhh no I just moved in (I lied) and I don’t really know anyone around here (kinda true).” They hand me a card for a free book and say, “Do you come here often?” “…Yea…” “Then we might see you again.” Oh great I think I need a new Pizzeria. They leave and the owner’s wife comes in, “where those Mormons!?” “yep” I say. “I had some of them bugging me a month ago and I chased them off. They better not be coming back around bugging my customers.” Good I can keep going there because their pizza was really good that night. :rotfl:

Anyone else get cornered by these people? :hmm:

I did just about a week ago, actually, and they've been running amok on my campus over the last little while.

Actually, I got off very easily. I talked to the guy for a few minutes, and I think I managed to subtly intimidate him off me - by being nice and yet keeping "high ground" and throwing out a few effective countermeasures :smug:

I told him I'm a quaker (not quite true) and grew up in the family of a full-qualified protestant pastor (entirely true). Looks like a direct but well-directed evasion worked on him.

My dad, who has actually become increasingly atheistic over the years had taken a more extreme approach a few months ago when instead of crossing fingers when they showed up in the neighbourhood - he actually got out of the house, went right after them, and made minced meat of them (intellectually speaking). They've been so traumatized, I think, that they don't even come to our area anymore :rotfl:

Geez, i havent seen any Mormons since they used to go around on bicyles in two's dressed in black slacks and a white shirt. I just don't understand why they feel they have to convert everbody. :nope:

I've had a few buddies that had a few run ins with them. But they were pretty extreme. They went off on a raging physco devil worship kick in front of them, and from what i heard it worked, wish i could have seen it. :D

From what i understand the Mormons don't try to convert those of other religions, just the Godless.

aah, 'jehova baiting' a much under rated passtime, if you can stand the piety ofcourse lol, sure invite them in then waste their time with rubbish talk, or find some other means of offending the rightious believers! Enough to leave a lasting impression that they don't come back.
Apparantly a good one to get rid of the jehovas witnesses is to tell them that you are 'disfellowshiped' supposedly practising JW cannot speak or associate with a person who has been cast from the fold, as it were... always worked for a m8 of mine who's parents were JW - the church is more important than their son, so they don't speak to him anymore... bit sad really.

Anyone else get cornered by these people? :hmm:
Several times throughout the years. In earlier years I used to leave them in no doubt what I think, which usually made them perform a rocket-start, later I made myself some fun by turning their talking techniques against them, or talking techniques I know from hypnotherapy and provocative therapy (which are intended to confuse blocked mindsets :) ). It usually ends with them getting silent (!) and staring at me, considering me to be an alien, maybe, while I stare back, also in silence  Well, if I want something from them, I let them know. Active missionizing concerning religions I find disgusting, and consider it to be an aggressive act, somehow. That they receive training on how to act in a pair of two and how to bring down resisting arguments by tricks and techniques alone tells me something about their truthfulness. Two times I had witnesses of Jerhova on my doorstep, who were very much pressing to get me into a talk. This is when I switch lights to red. If they ask once on the street (not coming to my home), and I say No, and they leave imemdiately, then it would be minor thing only, and would be okay. but often they try to press on, or come to your doorstep. This is were I stop being amused, and have some fun at their cost, for compensation.

They knocked on my door at home one Saturday morning about 2 months ago. It was 9:40am in the MORNING! :o :o :o

Anyway half asleep I opened the door to find these two ladies smiling and holding information pamphlets. After about a 5 min discussion at the door whilst in my PJ's and still half asleep they left leaving me with some reading material which I read out of nothing but simple curiosity and perhaps a dash of boredom.

In the end its harmless really though I am not a fan of home visits. I wouldn't go as far as Skybird to label it as disgusting and an aggressive act but hey maybe I am a little bit more relaxed. However if it was made clear to them that you aren't interested but they don't get the hint then that would tee me off. The pushy sales technique is so oh :nope:

It used to be back in the 1800's.. They wanted to get their population up and felt polygamy was the best way to do it....

My bad then. Put polygamy is okay for them, isnt it ? Not anymore. Some secs do practace it (out in Utah) but they are not considered part of "The Curch of Jesus Christ of later-day saints" that these missionaries represented.

They knocked on my door at home one Saturday morning about 2 months ago. It was 9:40am in the MORNING! :o :o :oWhat a freak coincidence, what I mean by coincidence is that you post about you being troubled from the doorbell, and me yesterday I installed a switch on my doorbell system so those kind of people won't hassle us anymore. Here, often they come around 8 of the morning, and that from all types of religious branches, give us a break…:nope:

Next weekend, nobody will bother us when I will turn off the bell system for the morning… in the afternoon they do not show up, beats me…:hmm:
http://www.nettouring.com/images/Public/Doorbell_Cut_Off_Switch.png
I actually installed the switch yesterday, the only thing left to do is to cut a portion of a metal plate (see red slash in the picture). If I do not cut it, the box will not fit back, the switch takes up a bit more space… but I have no more metal saw blades, I guess it's going to hang there for the week.:)

So to answer at TLAM Strike's question; "Anyone else get cornered by these people"
Well now, I won't be cornered anymore, at least not at home.

No, no, that would also cause too much damage to the house. Burying high explosives under the path to your house is not a good idea either, because the shockwaves could harm the foundations. The right wat to deal with this, is to bury a low-explosive propellant charge with incendiaries on top of it under that mat that says "welcome". Assuming the house is made of stone or other nonflammable material, obviously. Otherwise, the classic trapdoor leading to poisoned spikes (though the affluent might prefer redirecting the proselytizer to their shark's habitat) will have to do the trick.

Skybird

There is a reason why Scientology in most European countries is not accepted to be defined as a religion, and are not allowed to take benefit from a legal status of being a religion. They are dangerous, they are a mind-wrecking psycho-cult, they are highly intrusive, totalitarian, and eager to take over control of economical structures. It's about power and control for them. They use defamation, intimidation and public character assassination to overcome any resistance by companies or individuals that fight back or resist to them.

More dangerous than a sack of aggressive vipers. Don't talk, but take them, drown them, forget them. Zero tolerance from me.

Have you come across a sack of aggressive vipers mate? I for one have come across snakes (Tigersnake, King Brown, and Copperhead) in my home country out in the bush when hiking and at my mums property/farm. The only thing they want to do is get away from people. They are only aggressive when cornered and provoked which I once stupidly did when I was in my teens. At the time I called it curiosity but now I look back and it was simple stupidity. But back to what you said. I think it is a little OTT to say that Scientologists are more dangerous than agressive vipers and to call for their drowning is more than zero tolerance. It's murder. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Take a pill and chill. :)

Two times I had to deal with young people in psychological rehabilitation, who were victims of scientologie's psychological brutality and unscrupulousness. That's why I am so aggressive against Scientology, and other forms of psycho-guru cults as well. If they come my place and are not gone again when I counted 1-2-3, I'll take them down. Also, scientology is an organisation with economical motives I rank in the same class like that of the Mafia. This is not the right thing to be relaxed upon. Their economical possessions and influence within the German economy alone is estimated by experts of the BKA (the German FBI) in the range of the high thousand millions. Scientology is no amateur league, Konovalov. The thread posed by them is real, well-hidden, and very, very big. Everything western democratical and social and ethical understanding is about - scientology is not.

For me they are are valid target for search, find and destroy.

Oh, and the snakes... Have once seen a BBC film, black mambas in mating season. Their aggressiveness then is incredible. If they don't like you, they even chase you, and bite at anything that moves. They keep up the hunt over longer distances, just to bite you down, althiough they cannot eat you. I am no snake hater, btw, but a black mamba in mating m,ood is something that scares me. While most ssnakes are like you said, some of them are... a bit different  No need to play around with them, imo.

I read through the article more thoroughly now. What is essentially being advocated is pain control. The popular Lamaze birth method has a similar goal and essentially uses a combination of breathing and concentration techniques to control the pain, both physically and psychologically.

Been there, done that, 7 times.

Did I scream? Yes. Lamaze doesn't say you can't but more often I than not I didn't need to or managed not to.

Note I also received at some point or another a pain killer (pethodyne), which I would have prefered to do without but just felt that I needed the fix. :P

What? The Branch Davidians on knocking on doors, too? :88)

At least David Koresh finally quit smoking! (sorry.. I dont know why I do these things.. it might be genetic..)

The funniest encounter I ever had with door-to-door proselytizers was many years ago when a "Hare Krishna" (dont know what else to call them) rang my doorbell..
The Hare Krishnoids always began their proselytation with "We have a free gift for you!" while holding out this huge book (I believe it is called Bhagavad-gita ) that is very colorfull with interesting pictures and such.. and they never give you the book.. the free gift is the knowledge they give you on how to obtain such a book yourself... something along these lines..
Anyways, a friend of mine answered the door when one of the krishnidians came to proselytize. "We have a free gift for you!"... my friend says THANK YOU!! grabs the book and slams the door shut...
I swear I nearly wet my pants.. couldnt catch my breath for several minuets.
Meanwhile the krishnite is pounding on my door furiously because he has lost his bait, so my friend opens the door again and recieves a blast of invectives from the krishnite who is screaming that he (my friend) had stolen his book..
My friend tosses the book out the door and starts yelling at the guy that if he was not offering the book as a free gift he should not tell people that he was offering it as a gift.. and then slams the door again.

I tell ya .. this was the most amusing afternoon I had had in a long time! :rotfl:

Yes, a free gift is a free gift.
:rotfl:

And I fully concur with Skybirds vision on Scientology. Ruthless and unscrupulous they are.
Lost a good girlfriend, who was caught and later mangled by them. A few years - and a couple of expensive training courses - later her life had dramatically changed and she became - and still is - a different person(ality).

Scientologists are basically after money and are snatching people who are in influential positions.

Those Mindsnatchers. :hulk:
