Wohoo I finally found a large convoy in the Meditteranean!!! WHat a GREAT PATROL! AND PURE LUCK TOO! NYGM THANK YOU!!!
At 9.23.1943 My Watch sighted 2 unescorted merchants southwest off Sardinia. I chase, intercept, and sink 1 coastal merchant, the other small merhcantr gets away. arrg. Well thats what happens with a 1st patrol... New Kaluen..
Im patrolling due south of Sardinia when i go for a routine dive. I pick up screws of a destroyer. Then more screws.. Merchants!!! AHH!!! I race toward the medium convoy and discover troop transports, passanger liners, and tankers. A kaluens dream, but also a nightmare, 12 escorts... Before i even get a contact report im being fired at by the escorts. Dive Dive/!!!!! This is my first convoy on the Medittereanean!! I try to evade the DDs without losing the convoy but all looks lost. I get in the best position i can, fire my FAT torpedo first, then a full salvo. I dive to 50 meters and wait..

My lucky and blindshot salvo ended up hitting a c3, a c2, and a PASSANGER LINER! The Passanger Liner BLEW UP, hit direclty amidships!!!
I am literally jumping out of my seat.. I go to periscope depth and see the c2 is damaged and has its stern underwater, but not spotting. The Passanger Liner is blown to bits, and the c3 is crippled and dead in the water!
I adjust course to finish off the c3, unharassed by the confused escorts.. Ahhh.. I love it. Im heading home now. that passanger liner was 15,000 tons. What a great first patrol. What a great game!
I am still shadowing the convoy waiting for that c2 to slip. Its gradually falling out of formation. But i have no deck gun and only 1 stern torp left. See what i can do.
