I just played the Narvik Scenario.
Getting hammered by 4 RN escorts.....very intense :-?
After the inevitable flooding..the chief repeated " We have flooding" at least 20 times! :damn: I wanted to slap him....
Is there a way to shut him up? :stare:
Also, I guess surrender is not an option...I tried to surface...the Tommies just fired on me and one of the DDs rammed me! Unsporting! :(
Needless to say, I died :dead:

Do you use SHIII Commander? It lets you turn 'Dead' into 'Surrender'.
Lo Mike;
i know what you mean, i had some very intense moments a few patrols ago, and due bad timing i got hammered pretty well and my Boot was flooded and sunk like a stone.
I was lucky that we hit the ground around 80 m depth, and while i was totally wound up and kept ordering the damage crew from one compartment to the other my CO went all buddah mantra on me! with his soddin' "flooding" chant.
My was i mad.
I wished, even if he's a good CO, to shoot him.
But on the side, this is not always like this.
Once a mine caused heavy flooding and almost all compartment were damaged, but he was cool and said his chant just a few times.
I still try to understand what triggers that "excesive mantra"
:hmm:

By the honor system, one shouldnt use this option unless he was able to break surface again.
Personnally i like having this option. My latest IXC career ended because i got nailed by a single hedge hog while diving. It didnt destroy the boat, but it really ruined hull intergrity and i couldnt stay under, i HAD to surface or be crushed/flooded/drowned. So i blew ballast, and went to flank speed to surface before i was crushed.
Surfacing is a death sentence in SH3, but realistically you'd manage to get a good portion of your crew out of the boat. (of course the merits of being able to realisticaly survive a hedge hog hit and surface at all is sketchy )

I got caught attacking a convoy and took so much damage I had to surface as well - knowing full well it was game over. I took some screen grabs of it,
Me popping up after being rammed

Amidst the screeching of hulls and gunfire my crew clamber to the deck. The destroyer keeps firing and throws over some shallow set depth charges. However it seems to be being hit by friendly fire

Hmm...I think me and my crew might just be dead now
