Not even close to what it says on the box.
I run it on 2 systems.
One is a 32 bit AMD 2700, 1.5GB DDR400 RAM and a 9800 OCed to 420/730 with 8 pipes and it runs OK.
The other is an AMD 3500,2 GB DDR400 X800GTO OCed to 525.1100 and it runs very nicely.
What systems specs are you trying to run the game on?

I run it on a Pent IV, Radeon 9800 Pro and only 512MB of RAM and I run it beautifully.

I have my eye on a twin pack of Corsair XMS 512MB RAM (for a total of 1024MB aka 1GB)...

Yeah, you can forget the minimum requirements printed on the box. I'm amazed they can get away with saying that. Anyway, when I first got it I ran it on a PIV with 1 gig of RAM and a 128MB Ti4600 (AGP). It ran ok on that, but got the hiccups at higher time compressions (512, 1024) in the game, or when things got busier to render, like a convoy attack. But it was playable. Since then, I've upgraded to 2 gigs of RAM and a 256MB FX5500 (AGP) and it is dramatically improved. It doesn't look a whole lot better (it looked great before, so no complaints), but it is much smoother running.

Rob

AMD Athlon +3200 (2.2Ghz)
Twin Sticks of 1GB Kingston PC-3200 SDRAM Duel Channel (2GB total)
NVidia GeForce 6600 256MB AGPx8

Runs IUB 1.03 will all the bells and whistles turned on. Very minimal slow down (exception is when inside a subpen).

P4 2.8, socket 478

768MB RDRAM

Nvidia 6600GT

The motherboard is 4xAGP, and can't use the video card to its full potential.

Satisfactory performance with single ships and small groups.

Mediocre w/large convoys, bad weather, and high time compression (15-30fps).

Difficult to mod with this system.

Athlon64 3000 (S754 old style)
2 x 1 GB Micron PC3200 memory
ATI X800XL 256MB 8xAGP (16 pipes)

and my new Creative X-Fi!
no one should have to listen to the pathetic on board sound from 2-3 years ago. Lately the quality has gone way up, but it wan't great on my 2.5 year old motherboard.

Anyways I run my graphics with 4x AA and 8x AF. So it looks fantastic and only slows down when in the hugely populated harbours when on the bridge. It drops to 24fps, which is totally fine. There is a lot of stuff happening in those places with HT or Grey Wolves.

250 gigabytes of ram is plenty ;), but I know nothing about your video solution. My guess is you'll need a supported card to run SH3 properly.

The box states you need a Directx 9 compliant card with at least 64MB of RAM on it (128MB recommended).

The onboard graphics on an Intel 910 chipset are on the extreme low end. It does not meet the specs. I think the 910 onboard stuff is Directx 7 compliant. It probably has no dedicated memory at all and uses a porition of your main system RAM. Probably with a limit of 32 or 64MB. Definitely not good at all.

You should go by a 6600GT 256MB AGP board for ~$150. or an x800 series for a bit more.

My game plays great on my computer.
Specs: Athlon XP 2166 MHz 3000+ processor,
graphics card- nVidia 128mb 6600GT, memory-1024 mb ,
motherboard- MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR .
I've got another computer that I just built and significantly upgraded the processor, vid card and mb. But SHIII isn't going to get installed on it, not while it plays fine on the first computer. The reason? one word: starforce. Or is that 2 words?
:hmm:

At least theres not a squirrel inside running in one of those wheels to power the thing. I think thats what my first one ran on cause the squirrel was asleep most of the time.

Amd XP 2400+ 2Ghz
1 GB
ATI 8500 (64MB) AGP with Catalyst 5.6 and VSync enabled in the game options
Win XP SP1

it's ok except with high TC (1024 to 4096) : small freeze

PIV with 1 gig of RAM and a 128MB Ti4600 (AGP).
...
I've upgraded to 2 gigs of RAM and a 256MB FX5500 (AGP) and it is dramatically improved.
:hmm:
Strange because Ti4600 Gpu > FX5500 Gpu
but certainly the memory increase make the difference
