They should put this up on torrent spy, way faster downloads. The more people downloading, the faster it is distributed rather than the other way around.

Torrentspy is just a directory site, not a tracker. http://thepiratebay.org is a very good public tracker.

You need a program like Azureus to open torrent files.

Gizzmoe, have you considered putting it up on TPB?

Not really. I only have a 384kbps uplink, it takes about 9 hours to seed the file if I allow two connections. I would probably need to seed the file for at least 36 hours to get a good "coverage". Multiple seeders would be great, but I don´t know how it works.

You´ve download the torrent file, with that file you can download the audio file via Bittorrent.

First you need to install the Java Runtime Engine:
http://java.com/getjava

Then Azureus:
http://azureus.sourceforge.net/download.php

Then open the downloaded torrent file with Azureus. After that the file download starts.

Gizzmo, I've tried to downloan Greywolves several times and several ways, but it keeps telling me my firewall is preventing.

Now I am not about to monkey around with that just to download a file. I have been downloading quite well for a long time without messing with my firewall.

Please see about letting subsim create a link.

I really want to try your mod, and probably so do many others.

I'll help you seed. it isnt hard you just have to make sure you got all the files in the directory the torrent wants to put the files. If it sees the download is complete it will automatically begin to seed.

I got an upstream of 50kb/sec not much but it helps :)

"Seeding" means you are now sharing the file for other downloaders. You should share back at least 1.5 times the original file (by data size).

Looks like there are about 36 of us seeding. :)

I plan to seed for a few days at least. I've been uploading at an average of about 75k to about 30 peers on average, and am just about at a 2.0 ratio.

Any way I can upload faster? I am on a 512k UP connection... seems like I have plenty of bandwidth to spare. I have 50 upload slots per torrent open (only have 1 torrent running), and my upload speed is set at 0 (no limit)... any advice to boost my upload speed?

This community is great. :) What's best is that I can seed while playing SH3.... hehehe.

Downloaded and modded!!!!!

Heading out to AL29 for my first patrol.

I must say 'Holy crap!', there is so much stuff going on, you have to manually sail out of port while on the bridge. No longer can you 'auto-pilot' out of the harbor.

There were sunken ships laying everywhere. I had two DDs and a tanker head out at the same time as me.

I just about hit open water when I thought I spoted a motorboat coming in. Putting the binoculars on it and it turned out to be a German sub coming in!!!!!! It had a crew on the bridge as well.

At first, I thought I was hitting something when I was in the map section. I heard stuff and then realized it was sounds of water dripping and someone reading a paper.

So far, this is the Shiznit.

I reinstalled SHIII and patched to 1.4 and installed GW. I restarted an old career and the game started just fine. But when I went to the bridge everything came to a lurching halt. I'm getting 1 frame/5or 6 secs. I've been playing Rub running perfectly on my system and maybe a little slowdown during ship explosions but hardly noticeable. I can't believe a mod, even one this size, could put such a drag on my system. It has to be something else. I'm going to uninstall the mod and try a unmodded game for comparison. Ne1 else having slowdown probs?
2.166 gb cpu and 1023 mb ram, using a GT6600 card.
Otherwise I like the new features that are added. I can look around inside all the boat compartments and stations, except attack periscope which slows down everyting like free view or bridge view does.

I get the opening screen with the load up of Greywolves but when it is completely loaded it crashes to desktop. I did a clean install of sh3 loaded the patch 1.4b and renamed my previous install Wolfpack Campaign and my Greywolf mod Greywolves. I took the old data file and put it in the trashcan and put in the new Data files from Greywolf and put them in its place then put the GW documentation files in the folder too along side the data file. Is this the correct way or Not? Apparently not since it didn't load right.
I need help with this Plea  se?

Are you telling us that you deleted the entire data folder after patching the game then you placed the Grey Wolves data folder in its place?? :o :o

If I am reading that right...there is your problem right there..no wonder your game crashes.Did you even read the install instructions in the read-me file.
You do NOT delete the data folder in your SH3 game.Thats like removing the CPU from your computer then wondering why it will not run.You simply backup your original data folder and then install the Grey Wolves data folder over the top of the existing one and say yes when it goes to overwrite any files.Or you use the JSGME mod to do the install which is much better way to do it anyhow.

I run SHIII on a lap top mostly (because I travel frequently). I want to try GW, but I am concerned about frame rates. With RUB is am doing fine, but I've seen a few posts about significant framerate reduection with GW. I assume this is due to the new textures, etc.. Is is possible to revert the new graphics and use all of the sim changes with GW?

Thanks,

Thanks,

That would be possible, if you experience the fps drop, just Drag the whole content of ../sh3/data/textures/tnormal/tex/ *.* in a temporary spot in your computer and run SH3. Doing this will allow SH3 to use default low textures... well most of it.

That's the quickiest way. However, if the high res textures are on the dat files...

can any1 give a good description of ingame experinces... ie. Radio Reports.. Convoy engagements.. Any allied planes seen (stukas, bf109s, etc..) Anything out of the ordinary thats worth mentioning. Be nice to have a full breakdown of a patrol.. Mediterrenean look different?? Any sorties by the Gnesau and Tirpitz and Scharnhorst? Anything that is completely different (gameplaywise and graphic wise), i already heard u have to steer out of port manually, anything different like that? What fatigue system is used?? Bla bla.. full details!! i Read the content like 7 times already, but a good ingame KTB would be nice.

Congrats to the GW development team on what is obviously a labour of love. I am mid-career and haven't downloaded the mod but do have a few questions: If RuB is no longer included, what is the mod's philosophy re 'realism' issues and how is this implemented? For example, what is the crew management/fatigue system? Will you be incorporating other elements of the NYGM Tonnage Mod at any stage such as its aircraft damage model or crew fatigue model? Are there specific recommendations for turning map contact updates on or off? How does GW interface with SH3 Commander? Thanks in advance. It sounds like you have produced an awesome piece of work!

Did you get into Scapa on your first patrol? I was assigned that very same quadrant on my first patrol but didn't go into Scapa because I got a radio message saying not to sink any British capital ships so as not to embarass them during peace talks. I love the number of informative radio messages, but how many are 'icing on the cake' and how many are we supposed to take serious in that they affect your career? Love to get a response quick as I'm now on my second patrol in GW but would load up my first just so I can sink that Revenge, Prien style...

It is HT with the tweaks Rubini posted in one of the GW threads. The NYGM ship damage mod is cool; 4 torps to sink a small merchant, finally realized to aim the last a different part of the ship. A lot of radio reports ala Irish Reds radio mod. Only driving a IIA so not sure what my VIIB will look like but the interior looks a 100% better. The sounds are great except for that wierd chime in the ambient wav. An excellent mod IMO

OK, got home from work. Uninstalled GW and played a clean unmodded game starting in harbour. No problems. Reinstall GW and started the Gilbralter mission. Everything is smooth and I got a better idea of the mod improvements. I do like the new sounds inside the boat now. I love the sound the tubes make when firing torpedos. I just ran into the patrol ships and everything is still fine- as long as I keep the camera view above the water level. That's when FPS goes south and I get a frame every 2-4 seconds. Pull the camera angle above the water level and everything goes back to normal. Even in the Attack Periscope station, and the periscope in down position,I get a big loss of FPS, until the lens clears the water line. Then even with 3 British ships very close I have no loss of FPS. Until I lower the scope and the slowdown occurs until I can vacate the station. Is there anything I can do other than keep my view above the water line? What file controls the underwater visibility?
Other than this one problem it is a great mod. Many, many cool features.

That´s probably because of the new huge seafloor textures. Replace them with the stock files, you find them in "GW Documentation & Optional Mods -> Stock Sea Floor Mod".

OK thanks, I was listening to the great music playing in the options menus and thought about changing the particle density settings from 100%. So I started the game in naval academy and found out the land textures are doing the same thing. The game is fine until I go to camera view or bridge. Then even with camera above water there is a huge slow down. But I have used tree mods before and did'nt see this performance loss. I've used the harbour traffic mod and saw no difference in my FPS. I'm sure it's just one simple thing. I'll change those texture files tommorow. Got to get sack time for now. Thanks again for the help.

Yes, I went ahead and replaced the files. Now I don't have any fps drop off. I played the flak artillery in naval academy. I had fun! The cannon fire is much better and it seems harder now to hit the aircraft. Is that modded in? The cannon also stopped firing several times for a few seconds, almost like it experienced jamming or overheating? Due to the mod? I don't know but the whole thing was much more realistic. And before I exited the training I had to crash dive. That is exciting. You can hear the bodies coming thru the hatch and someone must have taken a header cause I heard him grunt in pain. :rotfl:
Anyway I followed the boat down with the camera and no stutter at all, smooth all the way down. Excellent diagnosis Gizzmoe. And excellent mod. It really is an expansion. Where do I send the money?
