I'm not sure I have the damage control, errr.... under control. :|\

I skimmed the bottom at 24m evading 5 rookie destroyers while shooting the English channel. (never again, really stupid!)

So I've got minor damage from the bow torp room all the way back to control. So the water is leaking, steam bursting and people are panicing.

No big deal, I've got an officer with repair and an NCO. I set up a repair detail to clean up the mess but no matter which section of the boat I put them in nothing gets repaired. Hull integrity is at 98.x%.

I thought it was because I was still submerged, so I surfaced hours later after I had lost my friends on the top. They still won't fix anything.

I've select the section of the ship I want repaired in the mini diagram and the status of the repair detail says they're working on repairing the section. But the little wrench symbol isn't coming up at all. I've left them working for over a day.

Am I doing something wrong?

Linked to that, my last fish is perpetually in a queue for loading, but never gets done. Even if I have a full compliment in the torp room. What's going on? Is it the damage?

Thanks guys!

Your Hull Integrity will remain that until you dock at port. You can't fix it out at sea.

You're rigged for silent running... no damage is repaired & no torps are loaded until you secure from silent running.

Hmm....

Are you still running silent ?

There will be no repairs or torpedo reloading while running silent...

You can easily spot it, if there is 4 little symbols crossed out on your command interface....

This is by far the most common reason...

Seaman feelslikeanidiot reporting for duty sir! :88)

I thought silent running was broken as soon as you exceeded 1/3 throttle. (or even Slow)

Thanks once again!

Can you take on too much water and skink her if damage isn't taken care of in a timely manner? Like in my case? I have 98% hull, but can you fill the boat up if you don't repair? My main pump is damaged....

Yes, I've lost a few boats to critical flooding. Whether or not you're in danger from flooding depends on the extent of it versus how fast its being pumped out, how fast you're sinking, your depth, and lastly the condition of your hull.

If you're not running silently whenever you get flooding you'll see two numbers in the compartment: one is how long til the compartment completely floods and the second is how fast its being pumped out. One completely flooded compartment can sink your boat, and multiple flooding compartments can have the same effect even if they don't flood completely.

The condition of your hull affects crush depth and lessens your margin for getting flooding under control. For instance, in one campaign my boat broke apart at only 40 meters because the hull was at 16% integrety after being shelled and rammed by a destroyer.

With all that said, if your hull isn't in bad shape, your not too deep, and you're not sinking, then you can ignore minor flooding until repairs won't compromise your stealth or until you're forced to deal with it.
