My last couple of patrols to the US East Coast I have received several radio reports of Task Forces heading east. Usually the first report has them around Grid BB92 or BB93. Slow right around 7 knots. My question is.... Does anyone have any idea what the composition of these task forces is? In game right now it is June 1942 I just returned from a patrol off of Norfolk. I looked at what my next patrol grid is and it's BB89. So if a Task Force shows up where they have the last couple of patrols I'll be in a pretty good spot to intercept it.

Depends what mods you have if it's out of the box or just 1.4b.
on what you said 7knts I would educate a guess and say its full of merchant ships with ****load of DDs if it has more than 6 dds in it it's considered a TF.
If it was a TF with Capital ship it would be doing btw 14-20+knts.

If the Lead ship of a Convoy happens to be an Aux Cruiser, it will be displayed as a TF, a TF doing 7 Knts.
The Group Leader determines the type of group displayed, not the escorts. If its a Ship of the line with merchants attached it will be called a TF. If is a Merchant with Ships of the Line attached it will called a Convoy.

I'm looking forward to my next patrol seeing these responses. Looks to me like it could be something I just have to run away from or it could be like Christmas. Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm going to lurk in the BB89-93 area for awhile and see if any Task Forces pop up. I'm using the stock game patched to 1.4b. I'll post my results.
