I'm going to add a link to this in my sig as well.

I am not a muslim, neither am I so pro-Islam as I may appear. I tend to voice my disagreement more often than my agreement, (after all, that's what discussions are for,) and, since I'm less anti-Islam than the majority on these forums, I appear pro-Islam, and according to some, naïve.

My posts supporting Islam are merely intended as a counterweight to the anti-muslim sentiments on these forums. And, naturally, because it's much more fun to discuss when we disagree. (You're lucky there's not much discussions about economic systems, I'm much more fierce when defending socialism than I am when defending Islam.)

That’s not legal you need to make it into a legal document under the law. ;)

Depends on how many men you need for a settlement.

I think it's very important to differentiate between "Islam" and "Muslim", the former being a religion/ideology, the latter being a person affiliated by birth or belief in some way with the former.

You don't seem to deliniate that differentiation at all - at least based on your use of both terms together above.

On the other hand, there do apear to be some here that occassionally don't make that distinction in the negative connotation you state to be viligilantly against.

I'm fully aware of that distinction.

As you say, some people do not differ between the two, and are, IMO, having negative feelings towards muslims.

I can relate to that from experience.

On the subject I think it is somewhat sad that you require or feel the need for a disclamer in the first place. I think I understand where you are coming from though. Perhaps it is a sign of the times on this forum now.

I can share some of the feelings of Tyoe XXIII - although I seldom agree with his opinion - and of Konovalov.
There is on this forum a lot of criticism about the ideology of the Islam and about actions of Muslim fundamentalists/extremests/terrorists. All this is absolutely within the limits of the forum regulations. Harsh opinions can be expressed although we should all realise that criticism often hurts, even if it's justified; criticism of your most inner convictions hurts your heart. If that is the price you have to pay for your conviction, so be it.

Things change when there is no sign of the slightest form of respect for one of the major religions of the world and when 1. idontknowhowmuch Billion Muslims are generalised and then judged, often in terms that makes me feel ashamed if I would have to explain them to our Muslim forum members.
My experience with Muslims subsimmers on this forum is that either they react in a dignified way, or they turn away.

It's difficult to moderate many of the cheap shots taken at Islam or the Muslim community as a whole. In general a moderator should intervene as little as possible and take it for granted that the forum members know their own responsabilities. Nevertheless I make an effort to read every posting - especially those of the more 'sensitive' topics - and I'll intervene if necessairy.

I take this topic as an opportunity to say to all (no one in particular) that criticism is welcome, but generalisations only serve to poison the atmosphere on the forum. Preaching hatred is not allowed.

And the image of it. Nice to hear yours and other voices of reason in this thread. I was almost beginning to perceive the "General" section of Subsim as something related to the white supremasist movement. Just imagine how a muslim would perceive it.

I disagree. The discussion is mostly about religion and culture. Not about racial issues. Then, I suggest you go read a real white supremacy site and compare. This doesn't even come close. Discussions like these occur on many sites, where allowed, because it simply is such a big issue.

I was unclear. I should have written "similar to", not "related to". That's because I don't think in racial terms, so when someone generalizes based on religion, I don't think it's any better than generalizations based on colour or nationality.

Yes. :yep:
