Hi all,
Being pretty much new in the SubSim community, anyone knows if a Plane sounds mod already exist ?
I'm very found playing SH3 and all that UBoot glamour, and
i'm also a big fan of WWII fighter planes; reading books on German planes, building models...etc
I find that the fighter engine plane (here a Hurrincane Mk II) sounds like a flying bee; i didn't hear how sounds the in-game Bf-109 and other planes yet, but probably most of you noticed that.
Anyway, if anyone has ever heard the sound of a roaring Rolls-Royce Merlin , or a Daimler Benz DB-605D engine would probably agree with me ?
THanx and respects to all Modders. ;)

As we all eagerly anticipate the release of GW, I know that some won't be able to, or won't want to DL GW. So, if you would like better sounds for aircraft, there are some good aircraft sounds in WWII Fighters, or IL-2 Sturmovic, and even CFS3. All you have to do is copy the plane sounds from one of those games and rename them to the sound in SH3. You may have to have certain software to extract the sound files from the Aircraft games. You WILL need to get the Ogg Vorbis software to modify SH3 sounds, however in both cases, the software is usually free, and readily downloadable.
Hope this helps

yeah the other day i switched on a big house fan and suddenly i thought i was being attacked by incoming brit sea planes....
I have Il2 Forgotten Battles and a few other flight simes, I just went into the sounds folder and found some decent plane engine sounds and copied them to my desk top and then renamed them exactly like the are in the SH III Sounds folder, if you do this make sure to copy the originals someplce else just incase you dont like the sounds.
Its pretty simple. If you dont have the Flight Sim games let me know I will send you what Files I can and you can choose the ones you like.

Hi sonarman_1019, good input , thanks.
WWII Fighters is a Great flight sim; with Realistic sounds, models, both Historically and technically respectuous.
I used to have my own copy of it, but it ' Went down in flames ' when my former appartment (+ the hole building) cought fire! . ;) :rotfl:
and yeah, :yep:
U-4053, it's a good idea. I don't know if IL2 sounds are good; i could give a try to a Hurricane and a 109.
I'll wait for your reply to proceed.
