I just installed IUB 1.3 pre direction (ie, cleared old install, reinstalled, added "official" UBI patch 1.4 [identified as 1.3], installed downloaded IUB 1.3 via JonesEnabler...however it does not identify on load screen as "IUB 1.3 version", in fact, is blank as to version where, prior to uninstall, the screen identified "IUB Version 1.02". Did I miss something...or have I got IUB 1.03 correctly installed? Thanks.

I had a similar experience last night: installed SH3 Commander and IUB 1.02 and all went well initially. Then discovered a newer version of SH3 Commander and, after having manually installing a few other mods, decided to go with a clean reinstall of everything but no IUB showed up. I was playing around with a lot of things last night so I'm not 100% sure that this was what brought it back but I did a SH3 Commander rollback, removed IUB using JSGME, and then readded IUB with JSGME and all was well.
This morning I discovered IUB 1.03 and repeated a similar procedure to upgrade to it (SH3 Commander rollback, IUB 1.02 removal via JSGME followed by JSGME addition of IUB 1.03) and no problems.
In fact my only (minor) gripe is the "realistic" crew it forces (via its RUB component), not unique to 1.03 though, as I'm used to the generic SH3 crew and prefer it (and no changes I make in SH3 Commander seem to eliminate it). Oh well, the vastly improved everything greatly make up for this one little gripe of mine.
Good luck to you, I'm sure whatever's causing its nonappearance is something minor and well worth rooting out.

Okay....I've got it working.....
There is one thing you have to do.
1. remove all mods installed
2. Rollback SH3 comander
3. Unzip the IUB103 file.
4. Start up windows explorer and go to the IUB103 directory. Double click on it. Inthere is a directory called Improved uboat 103. Cut and past this directory in your mod directory. and install it through JSGME.
5. Reload SH3 commander.
6. start game...it looks totally different now..:)
Good luck!!!

The graphics are awesome but I really like the heavy radio messages that are included too (adds a lot of historical "depth" to the game and further increases the immersion). Really outstanding mod pack.

So far I am really impressed with the new IUB!!! Only minor thingy I have is that when you want to enter the speed in the TDC manually its a bit harder to figure out where to press on the speed dail to set the speed.. On the original dail there was a line for every knot..and thats gone now.
But I'll play around with it some more and will get used to it since I do like the overall layout in the sub and the new map features. graphics are very nice too!!

Improved u-Boat 1.03 use all the popular mods reunited in one. Therefor, almost all mods have their minor bugs. IuB is far from perfect but it keep improving.
I am dedicated to correct the minor fixes for the first week like the one you mention. After that I either deploy a patch or another version that fixes these bugs.
