New Iranian Sub

There's a link on the subsim front page of a "new Iranian submarine" at the pier.

Last I knew, they only had a few import Kilo SSK's, and those were defunct at best.

Is Iran restarting their sub program? Anyone know where I can find details on this new boat?

at first appearance it does look a lil home brewed... like one of the subs the guys at Vulcania are working on... butyeah, i wouldn't dismiss it out of hand... it might be ideal for the littorals in that area of the world...

Is this some sort of a joke??? The allies and axis had better submarines than that during the Second World War.

No. But 10 more, built bigger and on the same principle, with possible missle launching technology added (maybe with help from China or N. Korea) and even if suicidal missions are planned, could prove to be very ugly.

That "New" sub is nothing but a Sang-O infiltration sub. Ideal however for the Straits of Hormuz..
