I hear people refer to this. Is this the same as the snorkel, or something different? No, I don't know much about subs. :D

Periscope= you can see through it.
Snorkel= you can breath thru it.

Look at Torplexed's avatar. That's a periscope. Or at least it should be.

The snorkel allows a U-boat to run its diesel engines when submerged. The observation scope is seen on the left, the attack periscope in the middle and snorkel on the right. It is fitted with a shutoff valve to prevent sea water from seeping in when the U-boat runs too deep.

Thanks for the surprisingly well-mannered posts guys, you have just wasted your time. Cool pic ZanRod.

If you go by what actually happens in the game then the "x" key (snorkel up) creates a huge neon sign that tells airplanes where you are.

Ah, it seems that this thread was meant to flame me for a harmless question I asked earlier.

Apparently the moderators haven't seen this yet becuase if they had, this thread would not exist, and this guy wouldn't be posting on this site anymore. Give them some time. Mr. Channing, where are you?

Why waste our time by posting topics that are meant to waste our time?

Because some people like to play forum police, and try to run forums that they have no control over. I can ask whatever question I want. If I don't know what a sub is, and feel like asking that, that is not against the rules. If he doesn't like a certain thread, it's really not difficult to stay out. But instead, he decided to hijack my thread, then make a new one making fun of mine. I really hope this guy isn't a day over 12 which is basically how he acts.

OK.. I think it would be an excellent idea if everyone grew up, just a little.

I really have better things to do that ride herd over a bunch of unruly children.

Do I need to start handing out "timeouts"?

But I do sincereley thank everyone who responded with on topic information. It is people like you who make this a great place.
