Hi all, I've not been around for quite a while but just got back to playing SHIII last night. This may have been mentioned before and if it has them accept my apologies but in case it hasn't. I found this link to a piece of software that creates a codebook for various versions of Enigma simulators found at the same site as this link. The codebooks can be made for one day, a month or a year. As an added immersion feature I thought some of you guys might be interested.

I haven't yet tried the codebook software myself but I have used the Enigma simulator and it is very good

It's in German the titles across the top when you create the code but should be able to work it out nice link  and Hello and welcome back :D

Ok, I've now tried the Codebook software and it does exactly what it says on the tin. You can create twelve monthly codesheets for either the 3-rotor Wehrmacht/Luftwaffa model or the 3/4 rotor M4 Kriegsmarine version the monthly sheets are saved as a text file containing random UKW(reflectors) Walzenlage(rotors) Ringstellung(rotor settings) and Steckerverbindungun (plugboard combinations) the enigma simulator on the same site is excellent. It is such a shame that something like this wasn't/couldn't be included in the sim. I'm definately going to include some coded traffic in my game.

Worked what you said great just two things what dose Tag & Kenngruppen stand for?

Thanks for the welcome back STEED

Tag is the day of the month, Kenngruppen is only on the Wehrmacht/Luftwaffa machine and it doesn't mention in the instructions how it was used  Try using the M4 Kriegsmarine version

No serious now, if you have any question, or an idea to improve the sim or the codebook, your suggestions are always welcome. I'm planning to create Kurzsignale codebooks. Unfortunally, I need lots of tactical standart quotations like 'enemy contact' , 'airplain spotted', 'refueling at grid..." etc.

If you have other things you would like to see created, fire away. btw, the Kenngruppen were used for start settings in some procedures, and key identification in others. Many different uses of them in different parts of the German Forces

Thanks. If I knew something about the code behind SH3, I would have made such add. Should start a pettition to the maker of SH3, to add a good Enigma sim. Maybe in SH4... :-?
