Got drunk in Frankfurt, Germany in 1975(?) and got one on my left arm.
Only had a few marks left so I got some dippy design with my name on it.
Then we went window shopping at the Crazy Sexy.
My daughter has a belly button ring which is okay but she got her tongue pierced which did not at all make me a happy camper.

I have 3, a long haired screaming skull and a gargoyle on one arm, and 3 scantily clad women (Purgatory, Lady Death, and an anonymous girl) together on the other.

I've always tried to live by the philosophy "Never do anything you can't take back"; so no, all my markings are accidental.
Kapitain, yea a tattoo makes you look macho, big, babe magnet and everyone will buy you a drink don’t forget the pain dirty needles possible infection blood poisoning and years latter you change your mind and want it removed more pain and scarring.

The problem with doing that one is that it's aready obsolete...Intel changed their logos this year.
On the serious side though, tatoos are a bad idea...everyone that I know that has one regrets getting it.
I have my right nipple pierced, bloody hurt like hell as it was done, but that was nearly 10 tears ago now.
My GF has 6 or 7 tattoos, only one of which she regrets having had done. This was because the guy who did the tattoo was not skilled enough as an artist to realise her design correctly.
Perhaps a view to getting anything like that done is to spend alot of time thinking about the design/artwork to be tattooed, then find somewhere to actually have it inscribed into your skin- chat to the ppl working there and if you're not happy with what you see then find somewhere else. Also a rule of thumb is that the more expensive the tattooist, it's quite probable that they are justified in their skill to charge such amounts. A great tattooist should have a portfolio thing of previous works which should not include swallows tattooed on ppls necks or 'love/hate' on ppls knuckles! hehe.
Do think long and hard about the tatto itself and the person to tattoo you. Once it's done, it's done; so it has to be right first time.
As far as cleanliness is concerned- when I had my piercing done, both the piercing needle and the ring were made of surgical grade stainless steel and were taken from sealed and streralised packaging. If you don't see the guy take the needle out of a sealed package and wear sterile surgical gloves, then don't let him anywhere near you with it ;)
Looking after you new piercing/tattoo after it has been done is as important as choosing where and what to have done. A large proportion of the horror stories about infections and such like are due to folk not looking after themselves properly.
With piercings of any sort they must be left alone (ie not moved about too much) and cleaned twice a day with salt water solution or tee tree oil or other recommended antiseptic treatment. They must be kept as clean and dry as possible and given a chance to heal propperly- in my case it took about 4-6 weeks for it to heal up fully. After this it does not mean you can forgett about cleaning the piercing! pay special attention to removing any crud that builds up where the steel enters the skin and in the course of normal daily washing make sure the piercing is soaked and is free to rotate without sticking or pain.
Tattoos will itch like hell- don't scratch it or you will bugger up the design, as part of the process is to allow the tattoo to scab over and seal the ink into the skin. Again, keep them clean and dry, and when the itching starts have a go with a gentle moistureiser cream (note: do NOT do this when the tattoo is still bloody, only after it has fully scabed over!). Expect about 4-6 weeks to heal fully.
With both tattoos and piercings expect there to be some bruising of the skin and swelling in or arround the affected area. This should become apparent after an hour or so and will probably last about a week. If you notice the pain or swelling grow and not lessen over or after the first week or two, then go see your doctor as you may have an infection. The worst thing to do is to leave it untreated if you think there is a problem.
If you choose your venue to have your tattoo/piercing done carefully and follow all the instructions about looking after your new tattoo/piercing, there should be no reason why you should have any problems whatsoever.

I got my 1st tattoo 15 years ago, and have never once regretted it. As far as infection, the artists made a show of putting on rubber gloves and opening brand new needles from a sealed package, which he discarded after the tattoo was finished. The guy said the Health Department certified the shop and inspects it regularly. I felt the possibility of infection was low. I had some swelling for a few days afterwards, but never had any bruising. There will also be some bleeding as you get your tattoo, so be prepared for that.
Like any major purchase (they are expensive, as well as permenant), wait a month and see if you still want it. If that's the case, definitely shop around and look at different artists work.
You don't want to pay $250 for something you don't like that you're stuck with, and less he hate it enought to have it removed.

At least Intel's new logo strives to be honest, though not politically correct.

Sounds like a good way to get AIDS or hepetitus.

It's kinda hard to get AIDS and hepatitis from brand new needles. Did you even read my previous post? You obviously don't like tattoos, and that’s fine, you're entitled to your opinion. But I feel like you're making uninformed statements. When you get a tattoo, the needles are new, and used for you only, then thrown away. If it takes more than one session to finish a tattoo, new needles are used each time. The only blood you are exposed to during the entire process is your own. I didn't notice any other foreign bodily fluids mixed in with my blood at the time, so how is a person supposed to get AIDS and hepatitis while getting a tattoo?

like back in the old days when you could supposidly catch aids from a toilette seat. :rotfl:
Well then don't use the bathroom while you're at the tattoo shop! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

so how is a person supposed to get AIDS and hepatitis while getting a tattoo?
From the Ink.
It's not just the needle that needs to be sterile, but also the INK!
If the tattoer uses the same ink reservoir for more than one client, that's hepatitis for you. This one is more common today than infected needles, because everybody knows about the needles already, but some still don't know if they touch the ink with a bloody needle that ink must be discarded.
So the tattoer must separate the ink he's going to use for you and make sure that ink never touched a bloody needle before, and obviously discard what's left of it after he's done.
Yes, you're right. Along with the needles, they open new little thimble sized containers. Those are filled with the ink(s) for your tattoo, and after your tattoo is done, they toss those too.
