I was a Destroyer sonarman serving from 1972-78 aboard

USS Schofield(DEG-3), a Brooke class DEG out of San Diego &

USS Elmer Montgomery(FF-1082), a Knox class Frigate out of Norfolk.

They all used to be classified as Destroyer Escorts, but halfway through my hitch they changed the designation to Fast Frigate.
