I'm sorry if i'm posting in the wrong place. Be free to move or kill this post as well.

Betasom is proudly to present: Sub Ready 1.0

this mod simply allows you to change your sub whenever you want without year's or fleet's limitation. Of course you can change all the upgrades and torpedoes and....more !

Enjoy !

http://www.betasom.it/forum/index.php (look the sub forum "Sub Ready")

If you choose to try Sub Ready 1.0, please read with care the Faqs:

#FAQs

Q: Which is the purpouse of this mod?

A:
To find in your stock whatever sub in whatever Base in whatever year you wish: experiment
all upgrades in quick time.

Q: What must I do?

A:
First, a backup of your files "Flotilla.cfg" and "Basic.cfg" in your game's installation directory:
Silent Hunter III/Data/Cfg/. Backup them up in a safe location. Then, start the installation program of "Sub Ready"

Q: And if I forget to backup those files?

A:
You can play without problems, but if you don't agree this mod any more, you'll must be forced to reinstall again the whole game.
But if you remember to backup in a safe place "Flotilla.cfg." and "Basic.cfg.", you need only to overwrite the mod's files
with the original ones and the whole game reborns as it's first installation.

Q: I have uninstalled "Sub ready", but now SH3 doesn't work more: why?

A:
Restore the original files "Flottilla.cfg" and "Basic.cfg" in your game's installation directory:
Silent Hunter III/Data/Cfg/

Q: I have started a new career and I see all the subs and upgrades but i have not the "renonws" required to change something.
What can I do?

A:
There are many cheats to change your "renonws". But you must start at least one patrol first.
Anyway "Sub Ready" gives more "renonws"than the original game, like 1 at 8.

Q: So I'm forced to start my first patrol in 1939 with a Type IIA or IID?

A:
Yes, you must start at least one patrol, then you'll have, in a short time, the "renonws" needed to change whatever
you want.

Q: Nothing easier?

A:
Start your first patrol. Immediatly dock at your home port and quit the game. Open now this folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\*your computer name*\Desktop\MyDocuments\SH3\Data\Cfg\Careers. Look for the folder named
with your career's name. Open "Patrols.cfg" (Windows' txt editor is good) and look for the TWO lines named "DeltaRenown=1500.0000".
So, change the value before the dot as you wish (ie: "DeltaRenown=1500000.0000")

Q: As soon as I start a patrol, this message appears: "xxxxx DESTROYED". What the Hell is this?

A:
You can't fit some upgrades in every sub. IE: a tipe II-VII-IX cannot behold a Nibelungen sonar, created
only for Type XXI.

Q: And if I have misconfigurated the upgrades, what happens?

A:
Nothing, the upgrade will be deleted from your current patrol. Then, at the end of your patrol, you could buy the right upgrade.

Q: Which is the "Sub Ready"'s compatibility with other "mods"?

A:
All the mods are compatible, untill one of them writes codes in "Flotilla.cfg" and "Basic.cfg" :)

Q: Can I play on line with "Sub Ready"?

A:
Yes, but, of course, the game's host will determinate which kind of sub you can use in that mission.

"Sub Ready must be distribuited for Free" with our quotations if possible :sunny:

Thanks Von Skion.

Your website had a neat flash.

A quad heavy flak would be a nice addition in my IIA :-j

The standard practice, though, of this forum, apart from external SH3 applications like SH3 Commander, SH3 Gen and Random Weather Gernerator, would be to place the mod in JSGME structure.

No offence, but since this mod messes with the basic.cfg, not a lot of people whith heavily modded games would trust a "black box" installer.

A manual editing guide (if applicable) would also be handy.

No problem, i'm not offended and I apreciate what you said.

In effect the installer isn't a must. We thought to make however a nice box.
there's not only basic.cfg but also flotilla.cfg. those cost us hours of work...

ah try the schnorkel on your IIA ;)

and sorry again is this post is useless

Thanks :P

BTW you can install this mod in tha folder you prefere, then simply overwrite (after a backup, of course) "Basic.cfg" and "Flotilla.cfg"

The installer overwirites basic and flotilla.cfg or it copies certain sections *inside* the files?

Thanks

overwrites

because those files are radically changed

there's not only two lines of codes added

let me know

OK ... thanks a lot for the very cool Mod...

as for the instal, if you don't whant to risk the overwrighting the basic cfg files and all, i've instaled the mod previouslly in mi descktop and then had a look on the files ....

i not an expert on this but i think we can make it JSGME compatible with the instaled files bro....that way JSGME will make the necessary backups ...or we just have the option of instaling manually and had simply what we whant....

but i live the rest to you guys that know a lote more about this....

gona try it mysellf and post some results later on... :hmm:

Thanks all

This is v. 1.0 and if you have suggestions and more, the first people happier is me :sunny:

What Jcwolf said is correct: install in a new folder on your desktop, then take a look. But make always a backup of your original files in Silent Hunter III/Data/Cfg

thanks GT182 :) that link is smarter than mine

and the song is Carmina Burana; the version is:
