View Full Version : Buggy
I have been getting errors in the game. Most recent about 30 seconds into a saved game, it crashes to desktop and I get the MS error SHIII had to close, send report.
I have not installed any patches yet, should I? If so can I install the most current, 1.4 I believe or do I need to install them all? Also what data will I loose by installing the patches?
Thanks
My game did that, when I had the 1.0 version of the game and installed multiple mods without using the mod enabler.
Try to patch up your game.
Mod Enabler? Is this in the patch?
Thanks

No, it´s a separate program made by JsCones.
You can get it here:
http://members.iinet.net.au/~jscones/software/products/jsgme.zip
With it, you can install and uninstall mods very easily. (Press button-- mod installs and backups the original files, press another button-- mod uninstalls.)
You do not have to install all the patches, only the last one 1.4.
I can't seem to install the patch. I get an error:
C:\..........\SILENTHUNTERIII\MissionEngine.dll: unkown version.
I even did a new install of the sim first.

I can only think of one reason why the error occurs. :-j
Do you use no-DVD patch by any chance?
I tried all four, the others said that the de_menu.txt was "unkown version"
Try uninstalling the game, then check if there still is the Silent Hunter III folder. If there is, delete it. Then go to 'My Documents' and delete the SH3 folder.
Re-install the game and try patching it. If it still doesnt work, I dont know what is wrong.

The patches are picky about only installing over original files. If anything is modified, the patch aborts, so you have to go back to the original unmodified files before installing the patch. Where do you live, and how did you buy the game? Hard copies came on DVD, and there is both a US and EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Asia) version of both the hard copy edition and the download edition. You have to have the correct patch for your version.
