Hi;

I havent posted here for a while, in fact not had too much time to play silent hunter 3 et all.

However I thought I must mention how nice this game looks and runs on the X1600 pro (yes the so called pants AGP version too)

The AA quality is much improved over my last generation X800XTPE, it looks more stunning now that it did before honestly for £100 you really cant go wrong, i couldnt believe how much nicer the aliasing was, ATI have done so much work in this area i think, I had picked this card up expecting it to be nothing more than a nice quality DVD playing card, and was so very suprised by it, having read some more about the X series on the net, it seems i wasnt seeing things and the visual quality ATI renown has firmly been wrestled back to ATI!

oh just read this back, and i must make it clear i didnt upgrade from an x80xtpe to this, I have a number of machines! :roll:

every silent hunter fan should grab one.

I'm kind of in the market for video cards, to upgrade my Radeon 9800 Pro.

Interesting you mention this, because I had been considering the X800 Pro. I will give another closer look at the X1600.

I just bought a SAPPHIRE X850 XT from www.newegg.com for just $209 which is roughly 175 Euros or 120 Pounds. Pretty good deal considering other sites sell them for almost $175 dollars more. Upgrading from a crappy X300 SE, it's a pretty big improvement. :up: :yep:

I just replaced my old 9800 Pro with a 6800 GS AGP version, and it's pretty sweet. I was able to unlock all 16 pipelines and 6 vertex shaders without problems, so basically I got a 6800 GT OC for $225. It looks great in games now, since I can crank the graphic details up even higher.

I think in general at the moment most people would agree the 6800GS offers great raw performance and is probably the fastest at that price point. But what i mean to convey is the image quality of the new X1000 range is better, as I said I have a x800xtpe sitting next to this pc, at 1024 x768 with everything maxed (yes the x1600 can do this fine despite hardcore gamers suggesting its slow) looks better. If you would like a screenie just email me, I just cant believe its 1024 x768 you would swear its far higher.

Save them in JPG format, not as uncompressed BMP files. This will make them much smaller.
