Ok this just started , I can load and play the game fine, but when I get into the game the sound just goes Nuts , making this loud scratchy noise , it will las t for awhile then go away and start over again.
I didnt do it until this new patch any ideas?

me too, I just started playing this game again, and after the 1.4b patch the sound is very chippy. :(

I have rub 1.45, harbor traffic 1,47 and sh3 commander.

I have a soundblaster 24bit live!, but never had problems before, if anyone could help us that would be great

This has been mentioned before, however, not reoccuring, please use the search button on the forum for sound issues.. I would give you a direct link but it would take me a half hour on my dial up..

Nothing Yet, Im sure someone has a fix or a work around for this isue.
Mine comes and goes ever since the last patch and this is a clean install as well, I htought maybe a file was corrupt, but I uninstalled Defragged and all the normal PC crap and it still does it .

I downloaded the patch and stuck it into the Sound folder.
I only played 1 game since, but I did not get the terrible noise I got the last few times I played.
I will keep track and see if this actually does help.

I had that sound problem. I fixed it by running the directx diagnostic tool (start-run- type "dxdiag"- enter) and setting the hardware sound acceleration level to No Acceleration.
But I'm interested in the patch. If it works I can reset my hardware acceleration back to full.

The Patch did not work, Unless I put it in the wrong folder which was teh Sounds folder?

I went into dxdiag and turn down teh acceleration on the sound, so far I have played one scenario and I did not get the noise.
I also reloaded all my drivers as well.
Maybe its time for a new sound card?
Timer will tell

Just set it to basic acceleration or at the most one notch down from full

Chad ? I could have placed the patch in the wrong folder but its doubtful?
I just went into dxdiag and turned down the aceleration all the way , I tried it just one nothc down from full and moved it progresivly downward, until I hit the last rung.
I only played it once and did not get teh noise, I will monitor this a couple more times and then try to make a final post as to the outcome.

I turned down the accelleration all the way , I've played three games now and no noise, so that appears to fix that.
However , I have noticed with teh New SH III Commander version I could not complete the 24 hr patrol in AN 56 this seems to be something completely isolated from the sound issue.
Also Torpedo tube #2 would not reload no matter how many crewmen I placed in the room including an Officer.
I will keep an eye on this unless someone else has noticed this and has a fix for it as well?

install by copying the "data" folder into your main SH3 directory.

Yes you did put it in the wrong folder, just copy the data folder into your sh3 main, don't touch sound. I would'nt try without out restalling the game, but thats your choice.

Thanks for the hardware accleration idea

I am trying the patch now, will update later

You're very welcome. I have literally jumped out of my chair , late at night whenever my noise bug started blasting, much louder than the game.
So it was strictly a matter of survival. :rotfl:
I'll watch for the patch update.

Well I wanted to update drivers and everything before i installed the patch. I tried it again with updated drivers and lower acceleration, but it did not work. So I will finally try the patch. U-4053 look at the notepad help, it shows you how to install.

Wish me good luck

well I am not even going to mess with the patch, beacuse my game sounds fine with running basic acceleration and updated drivers. If any thing changes I will post.

I have no idea what you talking about with the slot machine, do you have winrar?

Same here Hubba Bubba!
I checked my Vidio Drivers, all are curant, and I reloaded the sound drivers, and turnd the acceleration way down and now it is working just fine
.
Thanks for the input.
