As I was leaving Bergan Jan 45 I shot down a b-24,no this might seem a silly question but the b-24 crashed into the ground and bounced 3 times before it ended belly up. Now I always thought you shoot a plane down and it hits the ground it should break up into million pieces not stay intact any idea why this happens anyone?

It's because the damage model for airplanes is poor. The real fun begins, when you shoot a plane right after it drops bombs (it's common with sunderlands), and it will caught up in the explosion. Once I've seen one bouncing off the surface and rolling in the air about 20 times, looking something like this:

I was just curious because a few patrols back I encountered a few p-38s both got shot down one went into the drink and the other just exploded in mid air so it made me wonder why a b-24 would just bounce and stay intact when it hit the ground.
but thanks for the reply.

I have seen Catalinas land on the water and just sitts there for a while then exploads. Does the crew blow it up soo I can't take a look inside?
