Fellow kaleuns, I had an opportunity to switch on longremembered Silent Hunter I.
Really, that is surprising jollyroger to shadow japanese convoy and to sink almost of each almost at one moment. God's Eye in all aspects.
Of course, had trouble with one of escorts and resolved it sending her an eel to nose.
Maybe some of you remember these glorious times? Battles around Indonesia, for Australia , Solomon, Gilbert, Marshall Islands?

I remember Silent Hunters 1 & 2 with great fondness :)
Have you seen the Pacific Aces for SH2?

Yes, SHI was great (except for the better than perfect escorts). The map contacts were so frequent I had to ask who was sending them, since the U.S. didn't have planes operating that far East, and subs were assigned one to a patrol zone. I finally just started ignoring them.
Listen to your uncle Wolfram: Pacific Aces is a great mod and a great game in itself.

I don't think it's a big deal, but if they really bother you you can click 'Edit' and change them; even type in 'double post' or 'sorry' or just an asterisk *.

Of course I've heard about Pacific Aces.
There was a time when I intended to buy it, but then worked my general hate against SH II and then came SH III.
Why do I hate SH II? Because of orders: sink this, sink enough, follow this...just like another game.
Maybe Pacific Aces is something different?
:rotfl: My daughter wishes to see this rolling smiley. Anyway she's already a fan of SH - Torpedo Girl

Pacific Aces actually has a semi-randomized campaign that gives you quite a bit of freedom of operation. SHII could be modified so the only orders you got were "Go Here, come home". You should try Hitman's 'Aces' Campaign for SHII. It made a big difference. That and PA were much more dynamic than the stock system.
Me, I'm sold on SHIII and anxiously awaiting SHIV.

Thanks again, Sailor Steve!
So, I'm going to buy official SH II (I was a pirate then, I confess now) and afterwards Pacific Aces.
I am sold to SH III too without any question.

But I think, it's enough of Europe and northern Atlantic.
I want to play a game ruled by Chester Nimitz. I want to play battles for Midway, Guadalcanal, Marshall Islands, Carolines again.
In SHIII-like environment of course.

Aces I admit a bit buggy for me also yet I did enjoy the option to sink Japanese ships...
