29 November 1939, few miles off the English east coast.
I was just playing the game and sailing north at British east coast. I had just sunk a British C2 when I got a contct raport of a slow moving target just ENE of my current position.
Well, it was easy to find as it was heading my way...
I am slightly unexperienced yet so at first glance I thought it was a Coastal because of the high bow construction (it was night, weather clear), as it came closer I quickly realised that it actually was a C3. Wow, I thought, this is going to be most fun. Well, I prepared everything and double-checked the flag as good as I could in the dark. The flag was red. I thought that who else than the British would possibly sail with a huge cargo-ship few miles off the coast with a red flag. And as it was reported as a contact I thought it wopuld surely be a British.
Well, I fired 4 and 3. Both hit exactly were they ment to (close to the fuel reserves), when I realised that the flag was actually the flag of NORWAY!!! :damn:
Well, the C3 managed to keep it self together, you couldn´t even see that it was hit (good for me). I left the place ashamed...
So I wonder, does Herr Donitz get mad if you only damage neutral ships?

And an other which has nothing to do with my blindness in flag recognition is: Didn´t the U-Boats have their own cooks? It would be fun to have a kitchen compartment in the sub...

I know the feeling. I was in a similar location when I fired three torpedos at what I though was a British C2. Within seconds of letting the eels loose I realized the C2 was Norwegian. Fortunately, two of my favorite annoyances came to my aid - one of the torps was a dud, and C2's are virtually unsinkable. She sailed away like nothing had ever happened, and I slumped away, feeling like an idiot.

By the way, don't worry about Donitz. I just gave each member of my crew a bottle of Becks under the condition that they never tell BdU of how big of a fool I am. Hmm.. I seem to be doing that a lot...

Well, I managed to sink a British C3 aprox 10 hours after the screw up with neutral ship.
The only thing that sucks is that I´ve got only 4 torpedoes left and I´m only halfway to my patrol point...
It´s nice to see though that my crew doesn´t freak out when they see a fishing boat anymore... Level of combat stress seems to be a lot lower tha before. Maybe it´s the fact that they all have a U-Boat War badge (or something that way), or maybe it´s experience? It´s my third patrol... :hmm:

With the game need more than one torpedo to sink a ship, when we aim to a spot that one torpedo don't sink a ship, for 2 times I manage not to sink a neutral. Only after I fired the torpedo I notice the american flag in the first time, and the second I don't remenber. The torpedo hits but the ship carry's on. I try to apologise but I think that the crew of the 2 ships were happy...

The Type II has a kitchen, not sure about the others.
