Type VIIC U boat
Any idea on which one, date and place ?
Some ppl state this might be a VIIC/42, seems highly unlikely, but what is the proof it is not one ?

I would go with what that guy said on the site. VIIC/42
Its a VIID minelayer
Those 4 hatches on the bow are for releaseing mines
U-213 - U-218
late 42 onwards

I cannot ID the actual boat without an emblem, but she is a later VIIC modified as a minelayer.
I am going off the fact that she has only four vertical shafts, while the IID (minelayer) had a 9.8m 'plug' between the control room after bulkhead - this accommodated the five shafts for the SMA mines. The VIID because of it's additional length was able to retain it's armament.
The picture does not show a deck gun, which would have to have been removed for the mine-layer modification.
Looks to be a large model of a VIIC/42 minelayer... and a very nice one too.
It also proves again that SHIII is wrong in the placement of the Attack scope and snorkle.
Checkout this nice diorama of a VIIC... http://www.hsgalleries.com/gallery04/kriegshafenss_1.htm
