German team is still searching a flag carrier (for several days in a row now). Team chief is said to be close to the state of emotional desperation  no one wants to do the job (8 hours of holding that thing). I wouldn't do it either. but I can imagine that in other nations the lacking national enthusiasm of Germans raises amusement.

Let´s see how we make it in hockey. Selänne is in suberb condition, tho. Too bad that Kiprusoff dont play, instead he went to a holiday in Hawaii. I really dont trust on Niittymäki and Norrena to keep our goal net empty. :nope:
But we´ll see.

We should have had atleast two golds and three medals from the first three days, but no. Finns are great in doing below normal level in olympics. I have no expectations in ghockey anymore, but you never no. Its not just Kiprusoff, but so many key players. Kapanen, Pitkänen, Ruutu, Väänänen, Miettinen, and others, too much to think now. Its the most injury effected country in the games and we need all the best to fight for gold. But lets hope for a miracle on ice.

Medal 1 of the predicted 3. Come on GB!
Haven't really watched much of it, but the wife and I saw that fall the Chinese girl had in the figure skating ( OUCH :o ). I understand one of the sponsors messed up and some of the German team have been wearing the Belgian flag on their hats.

I don't really care for the summer or winter Olympics, but I was tickled pink about American snowboarder Lindsey Jacobellis being relegated to the silver medal after an unwarrented showboating maneuver resulted in her falling. Her example will stand alongside the college football player from a few years back who needlessly spiked the ball on the 5-yard line, thinking it was the endzone. Let those be lessons to the sporting youth of the world.
Norway's Doing OK, but I want some more Gold, most silver and bronze so far. Those Germans keep steeling the top prize :p

Those Germans keep steeling the top prize :p Not a flame , but do you believe that your crosscountry skiers dont use any doping? Its just that many Norvegians believe that everybody else uses but them. Especially Finns after Lahti WC games. And congratiulations on Aamondts gold, he deserved it , i was very happy he won.

Well, I have no illusions of fair play in sports anymore. But I believe an athlete is innocent until guilt is proven even if he is Finnish, Norwegian or whatever.
Sports nowadays is all about money and not so much about fair play and friendly competition
That is why I take less interest in sports than before.
I am an enthusiastic curling fan. It is one of few sports where one can have a beer belly and still be world class

With you there, it's not the most energetic of sports but it has a hell of a lot of skill to it, reminds me of a very good game of petanque.
I went to school with Team GBs Leslie Makenna and Alan Baxter. Pointless factoid for everyone to enjoy. Here are some Leslie Makenna facts.
1: A former Ski snob, she hated snowboarding up until she realised a career beckoned.
2: Her sister was cute.
3: err, thats it, i think.
Personally, I find the winter olymics a biit dull since Eddie the Eagle retired. He was ace.

(yea, I know, but I have finnish roots somewhere too :88) ) Thanks. Want to tell is it Team Canada or Russia for you? Im hoping to meet Russia in the semi final game.
Well, whichever it is, it'll be a good game to watch.
Actually, these olympics I've simply decided to watch without any particular lens and just enjoy the sports. If I see someone put on a good game, then they put on a good game. And I loved watching the Finns play against Canada in that previous game, they really did play better that day (but we'll see how it goes if they meet again!).
Also, today was possibly the first time I actually enjoyed watching figureskating, because instead of joining my parents in yelling "bah, ours is better!", I just looked at good skaters do their thing. And said that Cohen really did have that .03 points more energy that they judged her.
I'll probably be watching this a lot when the semi-final hockey games start, just because the teams that I did watch in the preliminaries were damn good. :)

I'm known for having been unhappy with the Russia-Canada games for a while, especially since I tend to think that Canada plays too rough a game.
The Russia team is really good, I think. But I'm so tired of the Russia vs. Canada thing, especially when people keep bringing it up in random conversations with me, that I'd rather they never meet :dead:

Being an italian, I'm really surprised by our gold medals in speed skating, a sport almost unknown for most of us.

From a neutrals point of view, i thought it was a good game
Shame Finland didn't get that goal right at the end of the game :(
What i didnt like was the coverage from the BBC though - There seemed to be a lot of blondes in the crowd, yet they thought it was better to show what was going on on the ice.
Lets think - blokes on ice or blonde females in the crowd ?????
:rotfl:
Well, the best team won. But the last goal just was so wrong!! Goal is a goal, but it went in too easily. :damn:

Mercifully, the games have ended. Now, the world can go back to normal for another two years.
