HI all,
I have been playing SHIII for a while now without problems, I played it yesterday, no problems. I saved and exited out of my 2nd new career and now I can't start the game at all. SH3.exe performs an illegal and I get the MS send/don't send error message...

The game crashes after I esc out out of the starting video and just before the menu screen loads (I think)

I have tried cutting and moving the career folder and moving it back again, and renaming the .wmv files in movies to .wmv.old but still no joy...

I have a few mods like the circular protractor thing in the map screen and the extra ruler and protractor tools. Thats all, and I am using patch 1.4

I have a Nvidea 5900 P4 1.8 512 MB RAM

Has anybody got any ideas.

SH3.exe performs an illegal and I get the MS send/don't send error message...

Please post more details, it should say something like "SH3.exe performs an illegal operation in <dll file>".

Hi,
No, I can't seem to find the MS report file. It has way too much data in it be able to post a rendition of what it says but really it is listing all the "usuall" windows.dll's, and I don't think it will be too helpfull.

However a couple of files associated with Direct 3d seem to feature a couple of times, and the crash seems to happen just before the menu screen loads if that's any help.

Delete the save game file of that career so all your got is "In base save" then load the game and you should be alright. Sometimes i get this i just delete the last save file.

Hi,
If I look in my docs in the SHIII folder, under my current profile Captain Crinsp...I can see the last saves for the mission I was on, there about 9 files, one named .sav for each stage I have saved my mission at.

Are these the files you are talking about? Which ones do I delete?

OK, Well I deleted the folder named zero (0) in my new Captain Crinsp folder and that seemed to fix it, I can now use the game with my old captain Two-Six profile....

Humm,
Is there anyway to fix the broken thing in that folder at all?

Also, how do I do the training academy missions with a new profile from scratch? I have done them all now with my old profile and they all show a passed with excellent results....Do they count towards a good start with a new profile?

Once you pass the training exams, you'll never have to pass them again. They are already being counted for all of your careers.
