I only play it like this, since I like to do other stuff while I play... like reading this forum :P
The thing is, when the focus is no longer set on the Silent Hunter III window the game will continue playing (which is great) but all the sound is lost until I put it back into focus (which is a real drag)
Can anyone out there that has experience playing SH3 windowed tell me if it's posible to switch to another task and still keep hearing the sound?
I know it's not a windows issue, because other programs (like windows media player) will contue to play with sound and all even if you switch to another program... can this be done with SHIII also?

I play windowed too, it stems from when I had to follow a complicated manual-solve tutorial :D
As far as I know, the sound switching off is due to the application being set that way on development. The other stuff you're thinking of is probably stuff like MSN, Email etc right? These are Windows programs designed to work as windows, whereas SH3 is designed only to work when it has focus. Which it would if it was full-screen. Sort of thing.

It's been a couple of weeks since I changed it so I dont recall exactly how I did it from the top of my head, but I think I just edited the "main.cfg" files changing a line that says something like "Play Full Screen = Yes" to Play Full Screen = No", or something like that...
It also has another line that talks about the games resolution, but it has no effect whatsoever
Thanks for the reply,
I just figured out how to do. Just uncheck the "Full screen" box on your video setup into the game (before launch a patrol) and restart the game. But it's not possible to came back to full screen, you will always be windowed until change that option again.
