A friendly reminder, please keep your signature images to a reasonable size, say 120 high, 400 wide. thanks

Does wideness really matter?
My entire sig probably covers about 500w by 120h, and I don't think it is too much of a hinderance. I mean, as long as it's not 1000 width or 500 height....

500x100 for the sig image seems a good limit; that's the size limit on alot of boards I frequent. Also, I think a limit of one image per signature would be a good idea as well to save bandwidth, though maybe an addition of a tiny image in addition to the main one (like in your sig) could be admissable.
In the meantime, I need to shave 25 pixels off the height of my own sig image.
EDIT: Done.
Ugh...Conformity....:) done...srry.

Me personally I have a very fast connection, so seeing signature does not bother me, its actually fun to view them all.
However, when the size of the signatures are increased, the size of the file is increased as well. I wonder how slow it is for those who does not have a good connection, I am sure waiting 2 minute to view a topic before it loads must be boring, especially when the page was slow to load because of the enormous amount of big signatures found on each users posts.
I am not sure, but I think this board does not allow one to select the number of topic to display. Am I right? :hmm:

I think the point is that Neal only has so much space on the server: the bigger the image, the bigger the file (generally).

Signatures are not uploaded, images are linked to the respective users location... a big difference.

Oh...my mistake then. Most of the forums I've been on require an upload of the graphic.
It can be annoying when a signature makes the page you are viewing stretch off the side of you monitor and you have to scroll left and right to see all of the board properly... thought having said that since being registered here, the clutter at the end of my posts has balloned a bit

Yeah, it is more like what Jumpy said: It can be annoying when a signature makes the page you are viewing stretch off the side of you monitor and you have to scroll left and right to see all of the board properly

This is the only thing that drives me nuts with sigs. Some people find the animated sigs annoying but for me it is just the enormous size of some in particular when it stretches your screen across.
Ups, sorry, ill go fix it

When that happens you can just press ctrl + F11 if you're using Opera and the browser will refit the page to match the window width.
or use control + mouse wheel to zoom the page in FF, however sometimes this hurts my eyes as the reasulting zoom to fit the page correctly leaves all the text about 2mm high lol
