I've started to use IUB now with SHIII and have come across the Large Cargo now several times.

In a previous mod i also came across it but that was once as i threw out that particular mod ( can't remember which one ) shortly thereafter. Now that i am seeing it more often does anyone have any recommendations regarding the ''sweet spots'' on this type ?

So far i have only been able to sink them with at least 2 torpedoes and some extra deckgun work and it never brought any fireworks when they went down

Try a mag shot just aft of the funnel, a torp at 5m in this area also does the trick.

Happy Hunting!!! :arrgh!:

For large-cargo (i.e., KGN), you might try a magnetic torpedo set at 10m depth, and aim near the funnel. Usually works well if winds are below 5-mps.

Btw I try to get at least 1000-meters distance from that ship before firing. It seems the torpedo needs that much distance for a keel-shot(?).

I use a mag trigger 8 meters deep if the angle off bow is 90 +/- 15 degrees and the weather is decent. Target right under the funnel and 50% of the time - one fish will sink her.

For crappy weather (to avoid the dreaded fish bounce off hull graphic) or for AOB > +/- 15 degrees (where the mag trigger sort of sucks) Ill run it out impact at 5 meters deep.

OH, this is type I only. I never carry electric anymore.

Any shot I make regardless what trigger - I consistently get detonation if >350 meters. I think the sim arms them after 300M.

Also - I find weather to be less of an issue the faster the fish runs - of course this means you cut time off the get-out-of-town run if the target is escorted.

I have shot 4 fish on impact trigger right at the funnel and the cargo ship was still afloat. It seems that detonation right under the keel (mag trigger with draft + 1 meter deep) is the best thing we have to the magic bullet. Never took more than two on a cargo ship. Destroyers seem to eat fish for dinner . . . but that is another story.

Thanks very much

It would seem my thoughts were right but i just haven't been lucky enough yet. Will keep on trying with each encounter.
