Have never played a tank sim before. However, I am watching the upcoming tank release with interest. I assume we are talking armored, not propane.

I'm doing some shooting myself over here: somehow, "Deer Hunter 2005" (smile price investement) got me hooked since some weeks. I'm almost ashamed to confess... Find it very relaxing to stray through the countryside, though. Some additional maps look marvelous and beautiful, and from dawn til dusk, sun to rain, dense forests to open ranges it has everything. Including a nice collection of firearms and bows. But having done archery myself, I must admit that it's implementation doesn't feel convincing.

Hiya! That musta been back in the EZ Board days. They've long since taken down the old WPL/Subsim boards. Found out my cobweb-filled account with them is still functional tho. :)

You're arriving just in time for a major impact. I recommend to you to follow all developements and announcements and comments dealing with Steal Beasts Pro PE. It hits the ground probably in the second half of February. Your former colleagues in other nation's armies are using it for professional reasons ;) That should tell you something. Ah, and it includes the Leo2A4, and an even more detailed A5 as well (the latter with complete 3D interior cockpits).

Check the sticky on top.

I've already seen a video of SB Pro showing a firing sequence in the Leo. This game seems very realistic !! Outer and inner views are exactly as in real life !! But the most impressive element is the sound !! I closed my eyes during the video and recognized exactly all the sounds of the tank... including the freezing WBG working(night vision).

But we don't use "computer sims" we use real turrets sims... more realistic.

Yes, Germany also do not use, they say they have the highest density of real simulators of some very superior kind in the whole West, more than one simulator per batallion. SB nevertheless is in use with smaller armies who cannot or do not want to afford that, it is in use in denmark, sweden, netherlands, Spain, Australia - these I can confirm, don't know if there are more.

Check the hellfire valley video that is linked to in the sticky. Fulda Gap also is a good video. The first is 15 minutes, the second 8 minutes long. More than enough sounds to keep you dreaming on...

Here is one video of SB Pro in action during a "classroom Drill" .

http://www.panssariprikaati.fi/steel/raskas.wmv

It has some good actions but the scenario designer made it easy for the "recruits" to train on ;)

Cheers .

It would make my day if some one knew how to get "Panzer Commander" to work with XP. That was/is a great tank sim.

Wasn't Panzer Command one of SSI's last offerings before they got gobbled up?

Hey m8..good to see ya..
Theres got to be some person who can fix it..or is it/
I found this today:
have PzC running fine on Windows XP. To stop the hang-ups happening, in one of the options screens, you have to turn off "real physics" (untick that box). The tank suspension does not bob up and down like it used to, and there may be some less noticeable side effects like less or n tank slipping sideways on slopes, but I found both effects a bit overdone anyway, so no great loss. anyway it does run under Win XP
I will try this now!
*No..it did not work.
