Hi all, I had problems with my system rebooting when ever I tried playing 3D games especially SH3, I have an Asus A8V Deluxe motherboard and ATI Radeon 9800 Pro AGP card, after a lot of researching various forums etc & experimenting have found that these motherboards have problems with other ATI AGP cards.
If you are having problems then this is most likely the fix:
The problem is not with the Asus motherboards but the VIA AGP driver, simply run the supplied ASUS CD, select VIA 4in1 driver program, then select normal installation (not express) then make sure the AGP ONLY is ticked, continue to next screen and tick on uninstall AGP driver, then continue & will ask to reboot system, that's it. 3D games should now run fine!
Cheers.

I have an Asus A8V delux board and I had tried 3 ATI 9800pros and all of them had funky, diffrent problems... I got an Asus 6800GT vid card now and have experienced rock solid performance since.

ps, I think I tried every VIA setting in the book. Your plight is all too familiur (sp). Good luck, Id just plug an nvidia in, they may not be as performance oriented, but they are effortless to use and solid as a rock.

Well I still had problems of rebooting when it felt like it in SH3 and whilst running Jet Audio on the internet. :-?
I finally disabled AC97 Sound in the bios & installed an old PCI sound card (Creative CT4730), now everthing seems to be running great!! I have now ordered a Creative Audigy 4 sound card & hopefully all will run. (my wallet only has moths now! ;) )
Seems a shame to throw the onboard sound away & I have tried installing the lates Codecs from Realtek, Beta version of drivers at Asus but all attempts to fix the problem failed!
It's amazing how others with the same board & video card have had the same problems but their fixes didn't work on mine!! such as disabling fast writes, setting AGP to x4 etc, who knows! :88)
Cheers
