View Full Version : Dr Who
I see the USA is to get the latest series of Dr Who: http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index.php?category=2&id=34141.
IMO you're in for a treat, I think Christopher Ecclestone was the best Doctor yet, and Billie Piper's quite cute - if you can put the whole Chris Evans thing out of your mind :O)
I can't decide on the new Doctor (David Tennant) but the Christmas special was pretty good, the wife fancies the hell out of him though, so at least there won't be any complaints about me watching it.

When I was a kid living in England I used to watch Dr Who faithfully. Loved those Daleks.

I like to paraphrase Will Rogers: "I've never watched a Doctor I didn't like".
I'm a particularly great fan of the original, William Hartnell, though.

Yes Evans is one heck of a minga. Almost on par with Davros before his demise in Doctor Who. :-j
My favourite doctor was Tom Baker. I can remember being not even ten years old and watching Doctor Who with my Dad. An important part of any childs upbringing.

Daleks 2.0 is the best mac game ever.
I've been trying to find a decent flash or java version of it with out luck.
IMHO,nobody better than Tom Baker.I have seen his impersonation of Dr. Who and has no rivals.I 've seen only the 1st season of the new Dr. Who and it wasn't as exciting as i was expecting. It got better at the late episodes and just when i started liking Eccleston, that new actor came out and i was like shocked.I don't know how his role playing is,but only looking at his face my reaction was "Noooooooooooo!".I would put such a face for a comedy or a Victorian age film, not for Dr. Who.
Maybe i will change my mind when i will see the 2nd season, but honestly i would have kept Eccleston.

Ditto - he was the best of the old school. I got a Tom Baker book from the wife for Christmas called "The boy who kicked pigs", I'd recommend you read it just to confirm that the man is a nutter.

With you on that - he was perfect in Cassanova, but I just don't know if I'm going to buy him as the Doctor.

That picture of Tom Baker perfectly sums up a comment made about him by another former Doctor Who: Jon Pertwee.
"You mean with all the teeth and curls?" :D

Not to mention he also played Rasputin in a film about Tsar Nicholas if I recall correctly.

Tom Baker was in my favourite TV out-take of all time. Someone asked K-9 (his robot dog) a question and K-9 replied "insufficient data". Tom Baker then broke from script and countered with "Yeees, he never knows the ****ing answer when it's important."

 Great News Tom Baker has been voted the greatest Dr Who of them all :D
BRILLIANT NEWS I AM OVER THE MOON
Yeah, Tom Baker was my favourite - up until Christopher Ecclestone - but he was classic and will always remind me of my younger years.
He's now the voice of BT's text messages, if you send a text message from a mobile phone to a BT land-line you get it read out by Tom Baker! Mrs Lesrae did it to me today, it's very cool.
I heard about that good old Tom still pops up now and again :)
