How many of you take the time to blow these pesky little buggers up with the deck gun?? Its a good way to attract unwanted attention.....but sometimes you just got to do it.....

Hmmm. I usually man the flak guns for those annoying toy boats. Seems to make quicker work out of them plus you get the satisfaction of blowing them out of the water yourself.

Hmmm...I have never been able to blow them up using the flak gun....I guess I must not be aiming for the right place...

Use the 3cm with AP rounds . The duel 3CM heavy flak is most satisfiying.

The dual 37mm does them the best, the rapid single is fine. The manual 37 is too slow. The 20mm do the job but take longer
It would be a different story if they fired torppedos like they are supposed to!
To be honest if your not going to have torpeedo boats and bombers fire torpeedos why bother having them in the game at all!

Is there a chance that this could be modded into the game?

My grandfather served on PT-556 during WWII...I can't bring myself to sink one!

:rotfl:
Run into one near Calais the other night, couldn't sink it ,
in about half an hour I was in the middle of 16 warships, at least 4 destroyers, I didn't know there where so many in 1940, maybe I had the luck to be near a task force, took me near 4 hours to shake them off my back.

You can at least try the mod of PT-boats with "virtual torpedoes". They are quite dangerous.

While they are mostly harmless themselves their main strength seems to be reporting your posistion to bombers and other ASW ships.
Also if luck is against you they can sometimes damage important equipment and kill crew members. I lost my highly decorated watch officer to one before :-? .

as a matter of interest are there any historical examples of elcos or a/c making torpedo attacks on u-boats?

I sunk one in gibraltar, i opened fire with the aa guns and with the deck gun. but they wounded one of my tower crew :shifty: :nope:
the problem is when they call other destroyers or planes :dead:
Check out the E3 2004 trailer of PT boats: Knights of the sea, to witness a PROPER Elco attack on a Uboat!

I asked my Grandfather about this and he said that the entire time he was in the Med. on his PT boat, he never encountered or saw a U-boat at all.

There is a mod out there that gives them virtual torpedoes. you can find it here:

I could be mistaken but I think the latest HT Mod has them installed with these torpedoes as well.
