Transfering Bases

In SH2, the German Sub base that sent boats to the U.S. was Lorient, France. Is it the same on SH3? If so, do you have to transfer to Lorient or can you even transfer there? And if you do transfer do you keep your same crew & boat?

I think I can answer "most" of your questions.

I don't know if Lorient is the "Only" base that sends patrols to the US in SH3.

If Lorient is the "Only" base to send them in SH3, then YES you would have to transfer there if you wanted a patrol to the US.

Lorient would have to be an active base to transfer there and you would need at least a Type IX boat to make the patrol, as I'm sure the game won't assign a Type VII boat to a patrol she doesn't have the range for.

When you transfer bases you keep your boat and crew.
