Anyone know where I could find one? Preferably translated to english? I am just curious as to how real U-boat logs were recorded.

Thanks,

Jamie

I'm interested in that issue too and I tried via UboatArchive. It's possible to order copys of original (microfilmed), but I'm not THAT interested in, yet. That's only what I have found.

Ducimus, I think the guy is talking about boats diary... But sure, you can see the overlay anyway, I think. :hmm:

Thats great, thanks!

Im mostly curious as to how detailed they got in their diaries. Did they express personal thoughts and opinions, comments?

Ill read thru the BdU one, would it be close to how a boats journal would be written?

Thanks again.

Cheers,

Jamie

Well he said he was intrested in how the logs were recorded.

As is my understanding, BDU kept to his roots and recorded his war diary in the traditional format a uboat captain would have Hence the link.

EDIT:

Here's U505's diary.

Thanks for that link, that was a great insight into u-boat life.

When the captain mentioned he picked up those men in the 7 lifeboats, did he take them on board? Surely there would have been no room?

Maybe I've misunderstood something.
