I thought it might be interesting to record the Oh **** moments that players have had in SHIII when something rather nasty and unexpected happens (images welcome if possible)

My favourite  was a convoy attack in 1940 in the midst of a violent storm. Surfaced in the middle of the convoy (C2s & tankers + 1 troopship all around) but unable to get a fix on any due to the storm. Rain pouring down and waves breaking all over poor old U100. Just got a bead on a C2 about 250-300 metres away when I had a sneaking suspicion that something was going on behind me......

Quickly turned to see a Flower class corvette :o less than 100 metres away on my beam (just came out of nowhere) bearing straight down on the bridge! ALARM.............

and down, down, down - heard the screws above, saw the ship in the periscope but no depth charges!?

Went to 150 metres and did a small cleaning job on the underwear and stayed there just a little bit too long. Lost the convoy (curses) and eventually came back to port after 4 weeks of solid storms everywhere I went with only 1 coastal merchant to my name and a very shaken crew.

Anybody else?????

Last night I was patrolling Scarpa Flo, but as I used to live near Lerwick I couldn't resist taking a trip up there, so I set a course. While speeding along on the bridge, I notice a strange dark line on the horizon getting thicker.

On the map, I zoom right down and discover there is a land mass poking out of the sea, invisible at higher zoom levels. I quickly put full reverse on, and miss grounding the sub by about oooh 20 feet or so.

How embarrassing would that have been to have to radio in? :D
