Yeah, about as 'automated' as you're going to get is to click on the space and have the program fill in the crew for you.

Three suggestions:
1) double-click on the station name to man the station (bow torpedo, stern torpedo, etc)
2) right click on the station name to send the station crew to the closest quarters (doesn't work for officers)
3) Take a look in the subsim mod area on this link:

search the page for No Fatigue Mod
No :nope: it's a real pain

Yup, royal PITA. Im sorry but the captian doesnt micromanage every aspect of the boats operations. Personnally i only found 2 solutions
1.) turn fatigue off. no worries, but takes away from the game
2.) Fatigue as food. I worked out the numbers to where the crew runs out of fatigue (food) after XX amount of days.
A newer option is NYGM crew managment mod, but ive yet to try it.
More info on NYGM here...

I found one of the options in SH3 ommander to be quite nice. It was basically a fatigue model designed around an 8-hour shift. Crew became less effective (1/3 energy level) after 8 hours so you could change them. Its been a while since I used SH3 to be frank so I've forgotten the name of it.

If you don't use Commander (I don't) you can still remove fatigue by editing a file. If you want to know how let me know.
I just download and installed the Commander mod . Have to admit , made the game much smoother . No longer have to worry about crew switching :D so thanks for the link , help and special thanks to the mod creator(s) .

Agreed. RPITA! Personally, I wished they (devs) would have spent the bandwidth improving the notepad and timing mechanizm for getting target range and speed. The fatigue screen is for folks who like to play with dressing up dolls :D

I have to agree that moving little dudes around who should know how to do thier jobs takes away from the game for me. Personally I got sick of playing the "shift manager" game. I wanted to play the sink some ships game instead, so I turned off fatigue.
