The best looking ships IMHO are,

Warship: The Hamilton class high endurance USCG cutters, they have great 60's lines

Cruise Liner: The SS United States, possibly the best looking ship of all time

as far as BB's go, the Bismarck or North Carolina class are the best looking for sure. I always thought the Yamato's looked bloated and clumsy, not graceful, especially with that weird curve they have amidships.

I always liked the Iowa Class Battleships. They practically symbolized Naval Warfare of 20th Century.

HMS Victory. There are no better lines than those in the age of sail, and the British made them prettier than anyone.

That's just an old-fashioned oil painting scanned off the back of my squadrons/signal publications booklet on U.S. Heavy Cruisers. Wish I had the original hanging on my wall.

And I couldn't really post without mentioning a ship that was built in the town I live in (though you'd be hard put to tell considering our shipbuilding facilities went kaput nearly 400 years ago)

Ship class that got me interested in naval warfare, Väinämöinen class coastal defence ship. It looks cute and symphatic. :) http://users.tkk.fi/~jaromaa/Navygallery/Coastal/CoastGal/PIlmarinen-lahtee.jpg http://users.tkk.fi/~jaromaa/Navygallery/Coastal/CoastGal/PIlmarinen-1.jpg

I fully agree, one of the nicest warships ever.
As a possible second I would mention the Dutch cruiser "De Ruyter":

Here's my imaginary submarine with a aft placed sail. I like to think of it as a Seawolf II. With fully electric drive with contrarotating coaxial screws propulsor, optical periscope and 8 dorsal tubes(instead of ventral) with REM launcher system (http://www.onr.navy.mil/about/conferences/rd_partner/2005/docs/past/2001/2001_lefebvre_reml_system.pdf).

http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/206/seawolfii4ze.th.jpg (http://img6.imageshack.us/my.php?image=seawolfii4ze.jpg)

My dream is to model it and put it into DW as a SW II.

That monster would have given any nation's BB a hard time. Bombers, however, were a different matter.

Sixpack:

Preussen is a beauty. She has always ranked high on my list, despite my preference for 3-masters.

Arleigh Burke class DDG. Best looker by far.

Hopefully the RAN white ensign will be flying from a variant of one of these babies within the decade. Much better tha the fugly Spanish option.

Another ship i think looks really good is the RN's Type 23 Duke Frigates. A good mix of elegance and clutter.

Ryujo is cool, not only in looks but practical. No island and therefore a bit more room for the planes. Taiho is my fave IJN carrier however, for the same reason I like the Illustrious class CVs, enclosed bows.
