Just had to do another reinstall of SHIII. All career missions were saved. Wouldn't load for some reason, just quits with error message while loading the game it's self, the loading movies ran ok tho. No mod changes either while on patrol.

Now once reinstalled I can't install patch 1.4b. I get MissionEngine .dll, unknown version and have to quit. What's up with this and is there a fix.

Game runs ok and career shows ok, only I'm unable to patch game with any patches. JSGME and SHIII Commander are not in the game either.

This is great.....

Just redownloaded the 1.4b patch and now error says- en_menu.txt: version unknown. What a revoltin developement this is. :(

I looked in the Registry and Default says (value not set), Installed Path and Path for exe are ok.

When you uninstalled SHIII, did you go and delete the leftover files in the SHIII folder that always get left behind, before reinstalling?

Go find this file in the main folder or look at the path for it and delete it. All should be find. Same thing happened to me

This error occurs if you attempt to install the wrong patch over your SH3 - for example the EMEA patch over the US release or the download patch over the DVD release.

Leftover SHIII folder in C drive was deleted. Registry is clean... no SHIII folder there. JS, I am using the 20.4mb US dvd 1.4b patch from U-boot Realsimulation. Could that have been corrupted somehow at the site? This is the 3rd time I've downloaded it with these results.

Lastnight I again uninstalled and deleted everything SHIII. Deleted the last download of US dvd 1.4b patch in case of corrupt download. Reinstalled and redownloaded the patch. Installed and patched with the same result..... MissionEngine.dll error.. unknown version.

Jet, I did that and no En_Menu.txt was found. Also looked for the MissionEngine.dll in new install and that is there in the folder. Now why would that be an unknown version? I do have the US dvd of SHIII.

See if this problem gets resolved by updating your StarForce drivers (http://www.star-force.com/protection/users/). :hmm:

Just solved the patch problem.... i went to UBI's index for SHIII patches and got it there. Installed and it's went in with no problems.

It seems the patch from U-Boat Realsim is only 20.4 mbs where from UBI it's 20.6 mbs. Is this the cause? No offense Terrapin on the downloads but something was amiss somewhere with 14.b US_dvd patch.

Here's the link to SHIII patches at UBI if anyone wants to hang on to it or post it here at Subsim, where it can be easily found.

Thanks for the help guys. ~S!~

Hello AVL, and Happy New Year to you and everyone there.

StarForce drivers were fine I guess. I didn't try to update them. If that ain't broke, don't fix it...... just yet. LOL ;)

At least I'm back at sea gain. :D

Resurrecting a six-year-old thread is not the way to ask for help.

Now that that's out of the way, if you have a newer copy of SH3 (2008 or newer) it's already patched, and trying to patch it again will only cause trouble.

Also newer copies of SH3 are Starforce free.

.... But it is commendable that he used the search page. I just wouldn't expect any reply from the previous posters.
