Ooooooh, contentious issue...
I don't pretend to know how or when it will arrive...but everything in me is screaming that it's gonna start this year. Who knows what form it'll take, be it angels in the sky or nukes on the ground. Who knows what'll be left over when the dust settles.
Either which way....I'm ready and waiting.

volcanos earthquakes astroids ect all been predicted and all have come true they said in one book "a burst of knowlage will define the end is near" (daniel) and we have in the last 50 or so years knowlage has boosted.

earthquakes more and larger volcanos erupt more and more, global warming gets worse, people become more and famine and disease become more powerful,

so could it be ?

In the span of a few centauries humanity came out of the dark ages and developed or discovered lots of things. Just look Da Vinci, or Galileo.

earthquakes more and larger volcanos erupt more and more, global warming gets worse, people become more and famine and disease become more powerful,

so could it be ? In the history of the Earth was we are seeing now is minor.

No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[f] but only the Father.

Four horsemen of the apocalypse? Let me count:

Kapitain, that's one.

Skybird, make it two.

tycho102, three.

And obviously Marhkimov.

Yep, you got it right, there's four of them.

Now the anti-christ, hmm, tough one, any volunteers?

But it can't happen in 2006, 2006 is going to be a fantastic year, mystics say the "apocalypse" is already occuring, has started a few years ago and will continue to happen in the next 10-30 years, some claim it is a selection process, to segregate those worthy from the unworthy, the pure from the rotten, the good from the evil, the honest from the criminal, good souls will go away and only the worst will be left on Earth, now imagine a planet full of dumb, idiotic, selfish bastards...

...
...
...
...

Hmm, for some reason that doesn't sound like news to me, anyway, if only the worse of the worse are left, every social structure of every society will crumble and all hell will break loose, it's not Mad Max because there are no heroes left, only Tina Turners.

I don't plan to die in 2006, and I don't plan to buy a Tina Turner record either, so I'm either with the bad guys or I have no idea what's comming my way.

In any case, there are many predictions for the apocalypse in 2006, we are literally paying to see, are we allowed to wager on SubSim?

There is suppose to be an almighty earthquake that will affect everyone on earth. An when isreal is surrounded by her enemies, not just palentine but all her enemies. These are the last days - days mean years.

Good one, Torplexed!
I bet you can even draw the famous four horses with the avatars of Kapitain, Skybird, tycho102 and Marhkimov.

I second that. It's not for us to know (and it's better that way)...

Yes Abraham....that would be an interesting subject for a epic Vatican style mural. Complete with Skybird drowning the damned in a sea of verbage. :P

Alas...my drawing time for the next few weeks is gonna be spent laying out a brochure.....bleah! Oh well. It pays the bills.

As for the end of the world...do we get to sleep in when it happens? I could use a few winks.

Ooh, good little christian boys doth fear their end?

Hehe,
first let me say I don't post this to start a debate but simply to lighten the mood on the Apocalypse. I for one believe in God but I think every religion has gotten the big guy wrong, it seems each different religion has their own views on what 'God' wants. And the bible was told to be written by man, and if God was infallible, why in the world would he leave it to be written by the most treacherous species he ever created?

Furthermore the apocalypse or even purgatory for that matter, they seem unrealistic to me. I believe we all make our own H*ll pardon the word, and a purgatory is what we make our lives on Earth. Heaven and H*ll seem to have been made as a means to control the populace, instead of being arrested. Religion has threatened people with dire consequences in the afterlife. And each says the same, "If you don't join us and accept our view of god and what he wants of you. You're going to hell" at least all that I have seen.

In my life I have been Born Baptist, Raised Prodestine\Presbyterian Converted to Catholicism, Reverted to Morman, practiced Buddhism and dabbled in Wicca.

So what have I gathered from all this? none of them are right. the closest I have learned is Buddhism in which it says all are created equal and within their right to experience whatever they wish, it is up to them what they make of their life. Their choices in life will not change the way their afterlife leads but simply where their current one does. But it is up to them, on them the guilt of their actions is placed. Each man is responsible for being Good or Bad, their actions are not influenced by fear of prosecution for eternity but simply by their own Morales and not thrown at the feet of some deity.

Therefore I find religious prophecies and other such information is propaganda at best. If you disagree that is your right but I only post this here so that others can makeup their own minds about the subject.

God Bless,
Mustang

@ Hitman & Negr:
A couple of months ago I read in Time Magazine a polemic column against the "oilcrash" thinking. I don't have it anymore but it sounded very convincing and ended with the words that this planet doesn't lack oil - on the contrary - but the political will to go after it...

I think I found the link (there were actually two articles defending both points of view): http://www.time.com/time/archive/preview/0,10987,1122019,00.html

Ahhhww, you need to have a subscribtion, sorry!

This was the guy who wrote the article: prof. Peter Huber and this is the link to some of his controversial book "The Bottomless Well" (I haven't read the book nor fully studied the subject so I'm not taking sides, although I love controversy and I have an optimistic nature):

Ah yes the famous Peter Huber :)

I am not going deep in the critizism of his points of view, but suffice to say that he does not consider envirnment damage as a relevant issue. So, even if he would be right in his conclussions about how to fuel the world in coming decades with fossil fuels, his solution would bring the biggest increas in pollution since the coal era

Anyway and related to this topic (So I don't feel sad of adding it), here is an article about the biblic four horsemen in today's terms of fears and menaces to our world:

http://www.energybulletin.net/12021.html

You gotta remember that the Bible is mainly written with symbolism, so the four horsemen could well be represented by modern plagues or threats. :)
