My graphics card died :o

Don't have enough money for a new one and probably won't for quite a while. Cold turkey isn't a good thing, plus i don't think crack addicts know what they're missing out on.

Anyway, in my despair some interesting news has come to light. I've just recently seen my dad and he was telling me how his dad was a radar operator in arctic convoys taking supplies from england to russia.

He kept a diary, even though it was strictly forbidden considering the possibility of capture by the enemy. My dad has offered if i want to read it sometime.

I'm quite looking forward to the passage that he briefly described where his dad's ship was actually torpedoed.

If i can then i'll quote a few interesting passages when i get my grubby little hands on it.

Sure that plenty here will appreciate.

Anyway, sink 'em all for me.

Cold turkey... as in sudden withdrawel.

I was making an observation on how addicted i am to SHIII in a light-hearted way. Or was it me who misunderstood you?

Um, I think the point of the first post was to tell about a very interesting sounding diary and that he might be able to share parts of it with us, so I don't see any reason for hostile reaction.

I, at least, would gladly read those quotes g-z mentioned.

I don't understand the reaction either. I thought it was obvious that your complaint was about being forced to quit cold turkey. I too am pretty poor, and dread the possibility of having some part of my computer go down.

The diary sounds like a dream come true. Any first had account of life at sea is worth reading.

Climb into a hot bathtub with one of these (http://www.exploratorium.edu/science_explorer/periscope/scope_9.gif) and you'll be just fine. :yep:

My card died in the Spring of 05 and I have only just replaced it with one able to play SHIII a week ago.

Been so long, I can't remember how to play.

:-? a little of topic ,but i do recall watching a tv documentary on about merchant convoys sailing across the atlantic too cardiff docks in wales i think :hmm: anyway the point i'm making is that this sailor said they knew when there was uboats in the area, that they could hear them :-? is this possible it would be cool too have this confrmed ,and that the escorts would leave them behind if they could not keep up with the convoy he said many slower ships where picked off this way
